Well you can count on Ben and I.
I think Ben would walk all the way if he had too, and carring his plane. |

I need to look at the points for those guys and see if this contest matters in Sportsman for Regional Points or if Ben has it locked up.

Wayne, you are unfortunatley correct Ben has it locked up. He has certainly earned it. I would have never guessed it with the way he was flying up till he got his new plane. That is not a slam I am being honest. He literally changed overnight with the new plane. It has been fun to compete this season but I came up a lttle short.....
However second place I have a shot...... (kinda like kissing your sister, but hey never had a sister so a kiss none the less is a good start for me) Can't wait, going to be a fun weekend..... Ric

In the past we have always handed out the Regional trophies at the Regional event. This contest does count towards points so, what has been done at those past Regionals is this... As the contest scores were finished, some extra tabulations were done to figure out the regional points and then those trophies were handed out in addition to the normal contest trophies. This year brought some new changes. The first being that all of IMAC is now doing the same thing for Regional Points. In the past, each region handled it differently and there were some wide variations from Region to Region. Standardizing things throughout IMAC has been a huge plus. The other factor is the new scoring program and the way each contest gets reported. Everything is visible now and because of that, people are checking things themselves after the contest results get posted on the IMAC site. I think thats a great thing. I hate to say it but up to now, we have not had a single North Central contest in 2009 get reported that did not have a few errors. Nothing like placement errors in the standings. More like, someone reporting their IMAC number wrong. IMAC numbers getting entered into the scoring program incorrectly. Pilots thinking they are still current IMAC members and they have let their membership lapse but report their expired number during registration. All of these errors effect Regional Points for everyone in those classes that have the errors. I have been checking each contest after its over and before it gets sent to the IMAC site and thats helping. The IMAC site, and the tabulations it does for Regional Points works very well but to get the results on Sunday afternoon would require the IMAC webmaster to be available right when we need him to be (whatever time that may be) and to then be able to be free to upload our results and let the site tabulate points. Thats a lot to ask of someone who very well could be at a contest himself. So, to make a long story short. The ARD's and myself have decided not not worry about the Regional trophies at the Regional event. We would really hate to pass out an award that could be in error and have to rescind it. The good news is that because we are waiting for tabulations of points to be checked and double checked we can (for the first time that I can remember) personalize them with peoples names on their trophies. Once I know the final placements there will be an anouncement here on FG and on the IMAC site. I will get each award sent to each winner so those winners will not have to do anything. Three awards will be given to each IMAC class. 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Seniors will also have three awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Wayne,
Thanks for the explanation. I think you had mentioned earlier this summer that final standings probably would not be available at the finals. As you say, better to get it right than fast & wrong. Maybe we can have a big FG or IMAC online awards ceremony at some designated date/time so we can all congratulate the winners ..... and sympathize with others. As far as competing, you bet I'll be there. Despite a lackluster season, I've a great time attending the contests and getting to know everyone in NCFR. I couldn't imagine a summer without IMAC. |
