Default Can i get away with one of the receivers i have already? (Big bird on a budget)

I have a spectrum ar6100e and ar500 in my box of salvaged parts. TECHNICALLY both of these rx's should run all of my servos. The ar500 is a 5ch however it has 2 aileron plugs, and the 6100 of course is a standard 6 channel. I will only be using 6 channels. Go to the lhs and make a purchase or no? Thanks in advance! Be gentle im a n00b.

The AR6100E is a parkflyer RX. Not designed for GS planes. I believe the AR500 is the same.

You should be looking at at least the AR700 series of full range RX or higher.

The ar7000 was what i was planning on buying. But what constitutes a parkflyer rx?

you will probably want to use a bigger capacity rx for a gasser project. the reason the ar7000's,9000's and such are used is partially due to the external "remote" rx attatchments that provide a broader coverage of the "line of sight" necessary to maintain connectivity. you may get away with the ones you currently have, but it would be a very inexpensive insurance policy to equip yourself with the rx's that were specifically intended for this application.

just my $.02.

That makes complete sense...i definately dont need any connectivity problems. Especially when the ar7000 is only about $100

Also its a power issue. Parkflyer RX's don't have the recieve power that full ones have. i.e. they are not designed to be flown far away. Less range = problems with GS

The five channel spectrum RX is definitely a full range RX but lacks the power capability for anything over a 120 sized plane according to their literature.

There is also the AR6200 DSM2 six channel RX with one small satellite RX that is capable of giant scale on a shoe-string budget.

Just a thought..........

...interesting...ill have a look at the 6200. I really am on a shoe string budget at the moment. The rx is the last piece of the puzzle. All of the other hardware got all of my $$ Thanks!

you can find ar7000's on here or on RCU in the swap pages for 75 or so shipped all the time... just a suggestion.

I have a couple AR500's, they are full range, but not for GS planes, thats more of a glow rx (what I use them for). Spend a little getting a good rx and save money in the long run. Or you can sell the rx's you have, Im interested
