ALL technology is glitchy. 2.4 is just a lot better with multiple radios in operation in the same area. Flying by yourself in a remote area I would venture to say that you will have more problems with 2.4 than 72 mhz, because it (2.4) is a more complicated system.

That said, most people fly at bigger clubs with other people so 2.4 is advantages. Those of us that fly with 2 other people at the most really love the 72 mhz. The biggest thing I like about 2.4 is that it makes 72 stuff cheaper.

has ken used that radio since? i just couldn't amagine that both batteries came unplugged to cause a fly away.even though there are very few actual 2.4/radio issues it almost sounds like a radio issue. maybe send both in. just don't put that reciever in that new carden. a twin reciever setup might be a nice piece of mind with the rss setup.

Yeah Kenneth has been flying his T-rex 500 and hasnt had any radio issues yet. Were pretty sure the mice unpluged the batteries considering they had chewed marks on the wires going from the batteries to the regulaters.

That is Why I hover down at the end.. Some people,, If they would give us the respect.. Just like a Heli.. when they fly.. I move.. When I wanna hover in the middle of the field.. Fly at the other end..

Then again.. Some people can't fly and hear someone hovering low.!! Don't know how you could miss that..

Crasher plane was not Tom was it!! LOL.. Love ya' TOm!!

Ken so sorry about your UBER crap luck with the last two planes. The last one you postes pics on was beautiful. It really sucks not knowing what the heck happened so you cant really learn from a mistake IF one was made. You take your time and do everything by the book, and this stuff still happens.I hope your next one runs for years with no issues.i think youve earned it..

Hi, folks

I think we should advocate for an insurance policy that states if you are in hover the responsibility of avoiding you should be done by other aircraft flying at higher speeds. If a plane hits a hovering aircraft, it should be considered as hitting a parked car. AMA insurance should cover the damages in such cases, but therein lays the problem some will say people will abuse it. That should not prevent us from finding a way to protect these investments. In the car insurance business, abuses do happen yet the majority doesn’t misuse.

Sorry about the plane, a completely avoidable incident.

Just an FYI, AMA insurance doesn't cover damage to model airplanes. It provides supplemental liability insurance for things they crash into, like people and houses.

There is no point in crying over spilled milk. It already done and over with. I am just no longer going to fly nice planes at a fun fly. The 10% of incompetent flyers that come to them are just not worth putting up with.

I lost my Aeroworks Yak (avatar pic BTW) earlier this year in the same fashion. What a sweet plane, I really do miss it. The guy that hit me was so on target he cut the extensions to the tail with his prop. No way he could of done that if he tried, but it still sucks. A lot. I have seen him only once after that, maybe it messed with him. It does give me the paranoia when I fly, so I understand. Whenever I fly big stuff I go up when there is a dead second. Ifsomebody goes to fire up, my spotter will ask them to wait or I will land, unless it's a T-28 or something like that. I always shout intentions for low passes and hovering even then. It is something that happens from time to time so I tried to take it in stride. I don't think you can ask the other person to pay for your stuff though, even though they seem like morons and you really want them too. Not fun stuff, sorry - I feel your pain.

Parked cars are usually parked in the middle of the road too arn't they, or is a parked car hovering in the air. Your argument of avoidance makes no sense, by the time one pilot see's the other model it is all over. It is almost impossible to watch your plane and another one at the same time, mid airs are almost always neither persons fault.
