Default DA50r Idle Problem

Im running a 50r with a tuned pipe. My idle rpm is 1,950 my top end is about 6,700. Using a 23x8 Mejzlik. The transition from idle to top end is just ok. My ploblem is when going from midrange to idle it takes about 30 seconds to reach my idle spead from the time I reach my idle position. Any body got any ideas. thanks Bob

Which tuned pipe? My first ideas would be that your top end is still rich, or a possible airleak around the carb/reed cage. I dont think the airleak is the issue though if it eventually idles down.

Check the gasket between the crank case and the reed block. I had to modify my motor to stop that gasket from sucking in. Mine would have a high / erratic idle when the gasket sucked in.

I checked the gaskets and bolts. the gaskets look great and the bolts are good and tight. I will play with the high and low needles soon.

Finally, my DA50r is running perfect, after trying all the suggestions I thought to myself, lets see where the needles are compared to the factory settings. After all the good will at the field and myself screwing around with the needles I found that my low end was 1/2 turn rich and the high was 3/4 turn lean. At that is was still running pretty good. I set the needles back to factory and warmed her up. I was still getting that lag from midrange to idle, so I placed a call to DA. Told DA my problem and in one sentence told me what to do. I was still lean on the top end. I richened the top up about 1/4 turn and that cured my problem . It is now running very strong with no lag from high to idle. Bob
