Plus I got to drive my wife's nice SUV to the flying field in style, and now that she has returned home, it's back to the truck for me. Ha, ha, only kidding.
i would like nothing more but we painted my trailer this weekend and i dont have the rear doors on. waiting on some diamond plate to arrive tomorrow. black, new bling and she should be ready for the nice weekend we may have. my plane is too long for my truck so i have no way to get it there and the sukhoi isnt ready yet.

Free Enterprise is what has made this country so great and having the success of wealth, however you define that, comes at sometimes great risk and cost. My eleven year old son told me today that his teacher was saying that America was the richest country in the world because we are so industrious and he raised his hand and asked, “It’s because of free enterprise right?” She, being a teacher, said no, it’s because of our industry and our farmers. He didn’t know how to respond so I had to explain to him that he could not have been more correct in his premise; indeed, industrialist and farmers are independent free market purveyors of goods and or services; they are NOT government owned yet! I also explained that all stores that he has ever been in were at one point some entrepreneur’s dream come true, that includes Wal-Mart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, or the small meat market were we buy our meat. The motivation of success and some financial freedom is what makes the initial sacrifices and risk a worthwhile endeavor. By over taxing and over regulating small businesses like the current administration is aiming to do, and what the US government has been heading toward in general, that reward will be minimized to the point that no one will want to take the risk anymore!!

So, start your own airlines Carl and you can do whatever you want whenever you want, but if you don’t want to take that risk, or have the headaches of running your own business, a steady gig is an awesome way to go as well, so no complaining!!

aint this the truth. but each day we play hookey we pay a price when we return....

Well Father I wasn't looking for a sermon nor was I complaining. I was merely making a comment in jest. Sorry you took it wrong.

I would be out of my f'in mind to even consider starting an airline. You talk about over regulation and over taxing. There is nothing more overregulated right now than the airline industry. FAA, DOT, TSA, DHS, OSHA, State, just to name a few. I must constantly deal on a daily basis with some bizarre new rule or regulation or method of compliance that some ahole pulled out of his arse which usually involves spending alot of money to comply and always stiffles the expedious transport of our passengers. Ken will tell you the BS I have to go thru everyday just to get out to my own airplane. And I'm the Captain.

As far as being the so called entrepernur and doing what you want. I work for one of those types of guys. He's always of on some kind of non-company adventure while I get stuck holding the f'in ball. I' m the one that has to tell my pilots that I have to lay them off before the holidays and I'm the one that has to figure out the way to make this airline operationally survive the winter. And I'm the one that has to take up the slack because we have layed off all of the employees. I even got called out on Thanksgiving because this guy has something that "came up" and I'm putting Christmas on hold due to this guys lack of consideration and attention to his own company and then he has the audacity to tell me that I take too much time off. Ya, right.

I am happy for you that you have reliable employee's that you can trust. I'm also happy that you are in a position that allows you to get away. I'm quite sure you have very worked hard to get into that position and I truly admire you for that. You deserve it.

And before I get another sermon on if I'm not happy in my situation and I don't like things as they are, go change them, yada-yada-yada, trust me it is the works.

I promise you father I'll never mention it again. Especially since it seems everyone takes everything posted so d@#$ seriously. In fact I think I'll just be a silent observer of this thread from now on.

Good bye

My, this site takes on a fairly spirited 'personality' when the topic wanders from building and flying airplanes. Personally, I am waiting for the UPS guy so I can get the parts I need to lighten up my 27% and get the receiver I need to finish my 33% TOC Extra!

I wasn't even considering your comment as serious brother or a gripe at all. And believe me, you are not a complainer in any way shape or form; my comment at the end was indeed in jest as well because I think you have a great gig; although from what you said here, it can be frustrating.

I used the comment about having free time to as I said, Bloviate about my feelings about what’s going on in this country and how hard it will become to be a small biz owner. Those wonderful benefits, after paying your dues, like having a bit of free time. Ken’s right though, you do pay the price when you get back.

Believe me Carl, I'm not that touchy.

Now, back to airplanes, I certainly don't want to get bogged down in my frustration with business and politics. Yuck, I fly airplanes to get away from that stuff.

Can you believe both of my 50cc planes are down? The DA-50 in my EF Yak had to get serviced. First I noticed that the spinner was crooked, than Chane noticed that the spinner back plate was cracked, than when I took off the cowl and looked around I noticed one of the engine mounts was cracked. But of course that was a symptom of the cylinder being slightly out of whack. So, $116 later, I got the motor back all fixed up yesterday so it’s time to mount it.

In the meantime, when I was flying last week with the EF Extra, on my last flight, my header pipe broke. When I got it home and looked at it, the pipe broke at the flex point. But, then I realized that the reason it broke was that my canister mount came loose, causing it to vibrate the pipe and it broke. So, I ordered the new header pipe and also finally put on the new landing gear and wheel pants that this plane has needed for a long time. I should have both planes ready to fly in a few days.

The point being, when it rains it pours and there is always something to fix on these planes. I have to say that it’s very rewarding to get them flying again though.
