Hey guys,
I'm looking to replace my Morris the Knife as I haven't been happy with it. It was great for hovering but no other 3D. What I want is mainly a 3D profile. I've been looking at the PA Bad Boy V2 ARF or the Chinn Yak from Extreme Flight but not sure which one. What do you guys think? The only problem with the Chinn Yak is that it's been out of stock for a long time and I'd like a profile before winter. What's up with their long out of stock deal?

If your looking for an ARF then go with the OMP Edge, if your in to building a kit then go for the MOJO for sure. I flew my OMP Edge with the 72 and it was pure KILLER................

Ya man; mine was a rocket with the 72 swinging a Xoar 14/4. I can't imagine what it would have been like with an 82. Heck of a fun airplane............................

This would be my choice. I had one of the ealier EF profiles with a Saito .72, flew great.

If it needs to be an ARF, then get a ProYak from OMP. Or build a MoJo or Primo.

Thanks for the responses so far guys!
I would like an ARF and I'm liking the OMP planes. I see there is a Pro Yak V3 along with the Edge V3. I was wondering what the major differances would be between them? Reading the descriptions I can't find any, but in the specs I see the Edge is about 3" shorter on the fuselage. Besides that I'm guessing they may fly similar, but with the shorter fuse on the Edge it may do better blenders or flips perhaps? I'm kind of guessing here. LOL.

Correction, the kit shows that the Yak is a few inches longer but the ARFs are the same. Hmm, I wonder why this would be?

OMP makes some good stuff. I'd also look at the extreme flight chinn yakk 54.

Just ordered the OMP Yak. I liked the color scheme better on the Yak and hoping the Edge and Yak will fly close enough that either would be fine. I got too excited to wait seeing that they're in stock. LOL.
I think this will be a great plane to replace my Knife. I like the Knife, but she was getting old and is currently getting the wing repaired after it started to come loose from the fuse. It'll likely fly again someday or get sold, but it was a good hovering trainer. Now I'm hoping for a 3D beast to practice with so as not to risk a giant. The Knife is not a 3d machine and just hovering around is a waste of glow fuel IMO! I'm looking to build my 3d skills so flying the Yak should be a real blast, I'm hoping this will be the perfect plane to cut loose on without worry.I'd like to do a build thread but there isn't much to talk about I'm sure, so if anyone is interested I will post a flight follow up. So far:

Well you didnt go wrong with the Yak, the edge and yak are the same plane other than the wing. the yak has a tappered wing as were the edge is not so much. the edge is more stable in a hover, but the yak rolls around much better.
Good luck with your Yak and if you need questions answered please let me know. I will do my best to answer them

Loose the 15-4 prop and get a good wood 14-4, Xoar was my choice. Much faster spool up and a better match for the 72.
IMHO that is................. Tom |

Actually the ProYak is much different than the Edge 540. The Edge was designed to be the 3D trainer although with a good motor and servos it is still extremely capable. The ProYak has a thinner wing, tapered wing with a much quicker response, longer tail with huge control surfaces for insane control authority. The ProYak is what I consider the advanced 40 size profile.
