Default PAU 27% Bulldog

So UPS dropped something off at the casa. Thread will be straight forward. Upon initial inspection I was impressed by the quality of the included hardware kit; Dubro, Hangar 9.

Build will be straight forward. I will be ordering up about the only thing lacking - prop and spinner. Motor is the ever reliable DA 50.

Depends on what you shoot it with. We will see how many tail touches I can do.

Power setup will consist of A123 on the RX and maybe on the ignition. Servos will be Power HD; they have proven themselves in my previous plane.

I will be running two more servos than on my previous setup so I estimate an average draw of like 300-400 mah per flight. This should give me about 4 flights before a recharge is required on my RX pack. This is really a safe estimate and leaning on me flying the plane much harder than usual.

So diving right into the build. The manual is straight forward but I thought I would throw in some experience from having built several bipes. They are really not anymore difficult to put together than a monoplane. Whats nice on this model is the hinging of the ailerons are done!

I begin in my case with gluing the wing halves together. The manual states to use some alcohol to clean up the excess epoxy/glue that gets on the wings. This is a great idea but I took it one step further. I used some blue painters tape to tape around the covering of both wing halves. I then used a razor to trim the tape so it would end exactly at each half. Doing so ensured any excess glue would end up on the tape and not the wings!

*NOTE*
The bottom wing has dihedral so make sure you orient the joiner and fit the bottom wings together. The top wing has no dihedral and fits together easily.

While the wing halves were drying I began work on mounting the landing gear and tail wheel. My handy Robart stand positioned the plane perfectly to work on it.

You will notice in the shots plenty of room inside the plane for a smoke tank.

I didnt snap any pics this morning but my trick worked perfectly. Wings joined up nicely and the extra glue ended up on the tape which came off easily.

Looks great Manny! I really like the way the bulkhead has been cut out for mounting a can too.
