Hi fellow modelers. WrongWayRc is now importing the J.C Prop line to the USA from Brazil. The two blades have been here since late last year. Most recent is the release of the 3 blade wood design.
JC, named after the company's founder and owner is a prop company with 20 years of experience in the South American market. This design is a unique design and is not a knock off of any other manufacturer. The most attributable feature of all JC Super Props is the type of wood used in the manufacturer. JC has been making props for models and small military applications with the latter being most recent on the advent of the UAV market. Pau Marfim (translated from Portugese to English as Wood Ivory- or - Ivory Wood) is a rare hardwood indigenous to Brazil. In the last century this wood was exported to wealthy customers in Europe for use in furniture manufacturer and also broom handles. In the broom use, it was found to be extremely durable and did not like to bend or break as compared to other wood. We have brought in a few of the 3 blade props in 50-150cc size and they are out to the customers this week who we hope will give us the feedback we need to determine the correct performance for size for typical 50cc -150cc applications. I hope that those customers can offer their feedback on prop performance so I can stock the best size for the application. We expect to offer common sizes in about two months. These props are currently hand made with a unique hand guide that does the same thing as a CNC lathe. For this reason supply will be limited in the beginning until the company can integrate a CNC machine in their production....But just the same, they are currently Hand Made and truly works of art. Here is a custom 30x16x3 Standard on its way up for a Florida customer with a Moki 250 radial in a beautiful war bird. More photos to follow. Feel free to launch your questions and more importantly tell me what sizes you would like to see offered. Richard WrongWayRc.com

A stack of them.
Forgot to mention in last post that pricing will be comparable/slightly higher to the 3 blade wood market, bonus points for wood quality no extra charge.

Richard,
I got the props I ordered today. I'm impressed with the quality of the wood. The wood feels to be very stiff and seems like it wouldn't be prone to cracking if you bumped it on something. Looking forward to trying them out.

Great Charles!!
Here are some average 3 blade prop weights in GRAMS. Results may vary slightly. Pau Marfim is 50 pounds per cubic foot as compared to Beech which is 46 so these wood props are slightly heavier than other wood props. They make up in that penalty with stiffness. 20x10x3W = 156 gm 20x10x3N = 140 20x12x3W = 170 20x12x3N = 162 24x10x3W = 258 24x10x3N = 236 24x11x3W = 257 24x12x3W = 258 25x10x3N = 252 25x11x3W = 278 25.5x10x3W= 278 28x12x3W = 450 29x11x3N = 376 It is curious to find out when weighing these and two blade props that the more pitch they have the more they weigh in a given size.

Drilled and ran my first prop today. The airframe is 35% 102 inch Extra 260. Engine Torch 90 on AMT 105 pipe.
Ran a couple props for baseline first. We are at sea level and the air temp is about 88 degrees. The engine was allowed to cool down and short warm up each time for consistent results. JC 27x8 two blade 7300 hot Mejlik 26x10 two blade 6900 hot JC 24x10x3N 6400 hot. I had to bring the high needle in close to a half tun to get the 3 blade reading, it was burbling rich on other setting. Will try to get out and fly this weekend for first flight report. Also got a buddy with DA85 stock muffler 35% that we will also try it on. WW

We flew the 24x10x3N today. First on my Pacific Planes 35% Extra 260 with Torch 90/Pipe. A little more tweaking and after landing tached at 6550. Big change from 2 blade to get it idled down for landing. (the two blade is 8 pitch)
Then we ran it on a friend's Pacific Planes Extra 260 35% with DA 85 and pitts muffler, got 6900. Uplines were strong on both plane and they recovered from one snap uplines. No prop noise noticeable, the DA85 and pitts was noisy in muffler department, the Torch 90/Pipe very quiet. Looking forward to hearing from some of you guys on your results. I found that with further needle optimization that I was leaning 1/4 needle top end which might indicate I am not running enough prop....any comments are appreciated.

We have been getting quite a bit of rain here is Texas. I did get to test run the 25x11 on the ground and it looks like its going to be at about the right load for a 100cc.
I'm looking forward to getting some more time in the air with the props.
