Get your drill and a hole saw and go to work.

But in reality, pictures or at least tell us what airframe your trying to lighten. That info would help a bit.

Can you post some pics of your front end? Typically there is a lot of weight that can be removed in the motor box or motor box hardware. Which Hanger 9 ??

Buy a BME 116....presuming it's a 100cc airframe. If not, get a BME 58

That is good Walt, hahahahha, Anyway, looking at the front end. And i know i am going to get slammed on this one, but here goes anyway. It is a Hanger 9 27% Extra 260......I did cut the motor box open to relieve some weight like Bob's 260 built motorbox. Looks almost the same except i used the stock box and braced it with angle stock..... Cut open F1 with lightening holes..... I have a Xoar prop on DA50( not buying another motor) It flys ok but i know it can be better.......moved tank to CG on floor using a water bottle......throttle servo far back close to wing tube as feasible....Bob, just seems like i am missing something that is still heavy up front. I can still loose some more on the tail but want to remove these 11 ozs from the front first..........oh yeah, not buying a new airframe yet either... just saying

with the mods that have been done already, I have removed over 1 1/2 lbs. this airframe as it sits is 12lbs 9ozs. with wingtube....I want 11ozs off but if i can just get the nine off I will be satisfied with the all up weight of 14lbs.....

Build a new engine box from liteply
change the firewall to 1/8th
take off the heavy plastic washing machine tubing
remove aluminum gussets in engine box
throw away the standoffs and use the engine box to do the job
make bigger holes in the top of F1
cut out the center section of the WT socket
use a mini servo for throttle
get rid of the Lipos & regs and use a single a123 pack

and if that dont do it .....fill it full of Helium

Are you trying to move the CG back... or just lighten the plane by 11oz?

I think that is my next step to build a new motor box, with out using the standoffs...... Thanks mode. were are kinda on the same page here... LOL..... Using a single 2600 LI-on on this one....will find a smaller throttle servo.......will i need to brace anything after cutting out the center section of wingtube? .......

@ Carrid,,,, just lighten the plane by 11ozs. the cg is actually good for now....
