Good stuff guys. Our 25% su26 from peak is a year old now with tons of flying on it and the air frame has held up well. I think this is a winner and a great addition to any collection. Eric

Thanks on the Yak 55, Peak got some good deal on those plane for sure. As for the Sbach, it's a Pilot Rc with 7955 all around, 2 on each aileron and rudder. DX7 with AR7000 plug on a Smart Fly EQ6 with 3 2200 2s Lipo. The power plant is a TMM106 on a JXf 27x10 prop. That is awesome plane but sometime you need something small just to go for an evening stuff like that. If you are thinking of getting go for it!

Any pics of your Yak 54?

Ya the SU 26 was a good plane for me too. But the Yak55 is a better plane, carbon fiber gear... At this price you need to try them all! Next one, maybe the Yak54!

Hi Guy

I have the Edge 540 25% with DLE 30. I was very impressed with Peakmodels shipping. The speed and packaging was top notch.

The plane is built very light which is good from a flying perspective but it a one crash wonder lol. It flies very very well and i am more than happy with the power of the DLE30, even with the 18x8 break in prop. I did have a weee mishap on its maiden landing, it was a little bit heavy :-0 and left the landing gear and mount plat behind. When i built the plane i was thinking of reinforcing but i thought i would see how it goes. Hindsight is a b#$ch. When building i would suggest adding some extra glue in as many places as you can, especially around the landing gear and motor mount.

I do have one issue with this plane, though I'm not sure if it is an issue or not. My wings seem to have a bit of flex. People out there with similar planes, do your wings flex at all? Is it an issue? I have not noticed it, but my friend has. This is my first "big" plane so not sure what is normal.

On small plane like this this I always had some Gorilla glue around the landing gear area for safety. As for the wing, I don't have flex on mine. What do you exactely mean by flex? in flight on static?

Yeah in flight. If i pull out of a dive, the wings flex. I have to keep a closer eye on it next time im at the field. It was my friend who noticed it. If i was to pick the plane up by one of the wing tips and let the other wing tip rest on the ground, i can sort of bounce the fuse. Nothing major but it certianly is not ridgid.

I don't know what experience you have with big plane. Big plane is all about throttle management... When you say pull out of dive, is your throttle at idle or wide open? With a giant scale if you dive throttle to the metal and pull out most plane will blow up.

Here's a couple of pics of the 25% Yak 54... this is an earlier generation kit that I bought as a Scratch n Bent... Peak made me an awesome deal shipped to my door. The canopy had some hairline cracks that needed to be fixed.... I used CA and it looks good as new!

I have this same kit in the red/black/white color scheme and I run an Eflite Power 110 with an 8s 3700mah pack on it. The gas setup is almost a full pound lighter and the DLE30 motor has MONSTER power!

My neighbor, who's a commercial airline pilot and flies a DL50/Airworks Yak54 had been pushing me to try a gas setup and I totally loved the electric version 25% Peak Yak 54, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do a gasser version. I hope to maiden the new plane sometime this weekend.

did the maiden flight today out at East Valley Aviators/Apache Junction airfield.... slight winds out of the southwest but otherwise a beautiful day.

No trouble in the air. I did some short upline and full throttle horizontal passes. A couple of knife edge passes and a couple of downline spins.

On the landing, the plastic hub on the cheap wheels exploded on the right and caused the landing gear to stress the mount plate. The mount plate broke a bit and the right landing gear buckled under slightly. Nothing that can't be fixed with 5 min epoxy, some reinforcement ply in strategic places.... AND DUBRO WHEELS!

All in all it I consider it a successful maiden... the DLE30 setup on the 70" Yak54 is absolutely awesome. This setup is lighter than my 70" Electric Yak 54 and flies better.

I should have stayed in the air alittle longer.... and done a couple of touch-n-go's before landing. I think I got 6 mins on that 1st flight... then hosed the right landing gear when the mount plate buckled.

I got some Dubro 3" replacement wheels ordered today.... and got the mount plate repaired last night. I also ordered another AR7000 receiver and rx battery. I'm going to run two receivers and batteries for piece of mind.

Flyracer

I use only one receiver on 100cc plane with no problem. You should look at A123 pack for piece of mind. read that: http://www.rcaerobats.net/A123_INFO/...on_battery.htm

So far, just great things to say about the YAK 55, I must have about 40 flights on it already. Just today, I did 15 flights!
