An extended post. Is this engine viable? Due to noise issues, I faced the prospect of either flying electric at one field, or not at all. Giant scale is out of the question at this field. Pattern flying do-able. I was later able to get by with my YS DZ170 at 40% ATV (cranking out about 91 db at three meters) to make a negligible sound "footprint" at the field. Any case, found the E Flight combo does work quite well.

Chris, its in the Passport. It was my backup plane at the NATS. The experiment worked. I don't do numbers, but Chris measured it at 95 amps during ground run-up with Chip's prop. The setup was quite adequate. In fact, to make noise of 92 db over grass, I moved the throttle curve down 15 percent on the high end. The thrust to weight is that of the YS 170 DZ on the Black Magic at equivalent 92 db noise level. Thunder Power 5000 10S was quite adequate for F09 sequence with ease. I'll see if I can get some pictures of the setup in the plane (its simple).

This setup has excellent results. I have flown the 2010 sequence with this E-Flight setup and confirmed the performance. E flight 160 motor costs $179 from Horizon. 21x13.5 prop, HV85 speed controller.
