I just wanted to share a brief story of the awesome service I just got from Aircraft International. I've never had to repair/service any of my 3W's so I did a brief search on the 2 US vendors that service them, and AI seemed to have the most favorable feedback (to say the least).
I have a 3W 150 TOC that was involved in an unfortunate incident a few months back and was in need of some service/repair work. I e-mailed Aircraft International on a Sunday afternoon for service and shipping info and surprisingly got a response from Gerhard in less than 2hrs! I shipped my engine out on a Tuesday and that Friday evening I got a call from Gerhard with some bad news - my engine needed a new crank - run out was .005. He offered me two options 1) brand new crank and bearings or 2) a used but perfect condition crank with new bearings for about half the cost of new. I went ahead and opted for option 2 as well as requested they go through the engine while it was there. I got a call on Monday evening stating the engine was done and that he had some news for me... Turns out, the used crank he had was for a 140 and not a 150. As a result, he went ahead and replaced the crank with a brand new one and honored the cost of the used. On top of that, they went through the entire engine, replaced all of the gaskets, all of the bolts, cleaned her out and replaced some of the frayed braided insulation on my ignition. The engine was back on my door step Thursday - just 9 days after dropping it off at the post office. You can't ask for better service than that!

I have been buying most of my R/C equipment from Gerhard for the past three years now, imparticular a couple of 3W engines, which have run flawlessly (knock wood) and a bunch of Powerboxes and batteries. I will admit, he may not be a morning person, but neither am I. He has always gone above and beyond when it comes to servicing all of my equipment, whether my fault or not. He is as honest as the day is long and always does the right thing.

Service rivals DA's. Engines don't know what name is printed on it. Germany technology superior. Turn around unbeatable. And people need to realize Mr. Gerhardt has probable answered that exact same question a thousand times, and people want to argue back, no body has time for that.

no offence Mith but I think your a little more than just an rc dork...you are a futaba sponsored pilot, heavily involved in most rc web sites, friends with 3w sponsored pilots, involved in rc for decades, and your are involved with the US UAV program...I think Gerhard will treat you with a bit more courtesy than most...still love ya man Im just saying

I've flown 3W's since 2000!!! I've never had an issue with anything that Gerhard does as far as providing a service to us modelers!! He so badly wants to be out there with us, hucking and having a great time!!! But there again, he is spending his time answering calls, emails and providing a FIRST CLASS service!!!! I've had a couple of dealings with Bobby at Cactus. I had 1 issue with the service performed. But another quick call, saying I needed that cylinder was all it took.
I will say that to most, Gerhard may seem rude or offensive, but most of you have to understand, he is pretty much a 1 man operation. He might have 2 others there working with him, as I'm not 100% sure on that. He is a VERY busy man, and does what he can to make things happen for us guys to get US back up and going in short order. When I call Gerhard, he is VERY talkative and wants to know how things are going with me, and etc..... Just FYI. Great report AHP!!!!

The facts, just the facts; that is the German way. Gerhard works very hard at running a successful business. He does not play games, very matter of fact. I like that and that is why I go to Gerhard for my 3W needs.

Gerhard is always there for his customers, he loves the hobby and most people involved. He single handily runs his business flys when he can and answers the same questions again and again. It's nice to have that one on one relationship with a company that cares about the average flyer.

I also have to say all my dealings with Aircraft International were outstanding. My old 3W 150 TOC was a hoss of a motor. I am looking forward to getting a new 3Dub 55 soon.

I had a similar occurance a few years ago. I called about 8:30 on a Sunday night with every intension to leave a message that I'll be calling the next day with a questin about something.......can't even remember what it was now. After one , maybe two rings I thought, why bother leaving a message as I was just going call back Monday anyway so I hung up. A few minutes later the phone rang and it was Gerhardt. I apologized and told him I'd call him during regular hours. No, no no......he was more than happy to talk to me that evening. I think we talked for over a half hour. He also helped me out one time and took back a set of new stock mufflers that I got from another retailer after I decided to go with cannisters instead. He didn't have to do that but he did and I'll never forget it. Above and beyond the way I look at it. ..........Mark |
