Default 2010 sportsman manuver 10

the way i look at the sequence the plane must break away from the pilot other wise when you come out of the one and a 1/4 turn spin your facing the flight line. What happens if the plane breaks the other way because of wind or it just does? Are you to force it the other way?

Just curious

Figure 10 is a cross box maneuver. You will just need to complete the 1 1/4 spin (direction does not matter) and exit wings level. If it breaks forcing a spin towards you thats fine as long as you don't cross the dead zone to complete the maneuver.

This is part of learning to make the spin break in the direction you want...it is possible...with practice.

What about manuver 4? It seems to be a snap just before a, I don't know, a horizontal teardrop.

Well ya I know what it is and I tried to get my Yak to do it all afternoon with out any luck. I'm wondering if the snap shouldn't be sooner than shown.

By the time you get to the bottom of the loop you should be nearly at full power, and that will help with the snap

In figure #4, which follows the tear drop not the loop, you must immediately pull into the 5/8ths loop at the moment the snap roll stops (at wings level) It is a downgrade for drawing a line of any length between the roll element (the snap in this case) and the looping portion of the figure.

Ouch!!, that's what I thought. Well I guess I will just have to figure out a way to do it with the Yak.
Thanks and take care;

We flew this same manuever in a couple of unknowns this year in Sportsman and I was flying my Gen IV 102" in Yak. From my experience the QQ Yak likes a little more speed for the snaps. I would do the positive snap with at least 1/2 or better throttle then roll on the power while you perform the looping part of the manuever. It worked for me while practicing these types of manuevers prior to the contest. They always have one of those in the unknown....now it's a permanant fixture in the known. With my 120" QQ yak at the end of the intermediate sequence there is a negative snap followed by a half loop and then a positive snap. Both need to have some speed to produce a clean break and finish on the snaps. If they are too slow they look terrible. Seems to be a Yak trait. Hope this helps!

I dont think skipping them is going to be the answer. Unfortantly all my planes are 150 miles away (i am at college) at my house so it doesnt look like I will get to try the sequences for at least another week if not longer.
