Default Midwest Cap 232 80 inch

Hey everyone.

I am looking for a wing kit or just the ribs for a Midwest Cap 232. Or if someone has one that they could trace out the ribs for me would be great.

My trusty 12 year old Cap that had no crashes in the 12 years found its way into the top of a tree at my local field. fortunatly the only damage was to the Left wing panel and I broke my 8 year old prop. Any help would be appriciated.

Thanks
Joe Lewis

Can you open CAD files? Assuming Midwest is OK with it, I can send you the original CAD files for the ribs.

Just happened to have CAD files handy on a memory stick. Thanks really goes to Midwest Products. I checked wih them first to be sure it was OK. The model is their IP so I couldnt have forwarded the drawings w/o their concent.

Joe, got your e-mail. The file I sent was an AutoCAD ddwg file but probably too high of a version. I'll save it down to an older version and a dxf and send you both when I get to work tomorrow.

I am brand new to Giants but I am proficient in AutoCad. Can I get a copy of the Midwest Cap 232 80" in a .dwg format? I want to get some lite-ply laser cut for spare parts, or anybody who's interested. Let me know.

I'm looking for the airfoil type tail sufrace conversion kit for the Midwest 80" Cap 232 for one of my friends. My friend contacted Midwest to see if they had anything left. Midwest said that they had discontinued the aircraft kits and referred him to the forums for help. If anyone has an unused conversion kit for sale, or a Cad file to build the airfoil tail, that would be great.

Dick Hanson used to make a foam wing/stab conversion kit for this plane. My dad has one of the converted planes and it flies extremely well. As I recall it made the wing a bit larger in total area and came in lighter as well.

I know he doesn't make that kit any longer, but I am sure he could give you all the relavent dimensions. You could be able to cut them yourself, or get any of a number of foam cutters to whip out a set of cores.

As for airfoil, I believe he just traced a french curve...

Too bad that Midwest got out of the Airplane kit business. I have a couple of their smaller planes (Aerostar 20 & Aerolectric) and they are really well made and good flyers. I'm also disapointed that they stopped their customer support for aircraft. They should at least provide replacement parts and information. Its not like they are totally out of business, they still sell products and maintain a website. If they put the plans on dwg. or pdf files, former customers could download them and build their own replacement parts.
