Mr. Hempel has decided to see if there is a market for smaller versions of the Yak-55M. He has prototypes for both the 50cc and 100cc. I was lucky enough to be asked to give one a try and I chose the 100cc. To me, it is the perfect size for all types of flying.
A few quick specs:
101" wingspan
approx. 1850 squares
92" length, back of rudder to front of cowl
15 pounds as you see it below - basically less radio gear, powerplant, tank, and wheels.
I've built a few 100cc planes and all the equipment added to the airframe usually comes out to about 10-12 pounds. So it looks like this will be a 25-27 pound plane
I should hope to see that Mr. Hemple does indeed find there is a market for his models in the less than gargantuan size. I probably would never go down the 50-60%-er road, but I could easily see owning the 100 cc size, hell, probably even 50 cc too. Hey Bill, need someone to try the 50 that Nick passed on? Pick me, Pick me! All I'm saying is, I like what I'm seeing and I hope Bill goes forward with this. Subscribed, for sure

I bought the Krill 37.5% 55M for my IMAC plane.

I'd order one of these from Bill on the first containership so I wouldn't ever have to 3D my IMAC plane again!

Very carefully, lol! I believe Mr. Hempel has worked with many overseas customers and had planes shipped directly from the factory to their location.
I am still not sure of his intentions with this plane, but I think that since he is the only one I know of with a 100cc version of the 55M, he has a niche on the market (for the time being). Billy's no dummy(well, when it comes to marketing ), so I'm sure he will make the right decision.

I love the plane, love the pocket hinging and extreme throws. I look forward to seeing this project follow through. The 55M or a Votec 322 would be great designs to hit the market with. This will allow Bill to step out of the market saturated extra/yak/edge world.

I am excited to see this follows through.

Take Care,

If you like the Yak-55M, Ohio Model Products has a 100cc Yak SP-55M that is currently for sale for $950. It has all carbon fiber, wing and tail tubes, landing gear etc. Hardware is first class covering is ultrakote. Check out there website www.ohiomodelplanes.com.

This may sound silly because I am not up to date on YAK designs of the model 55 but the OMP Yak does not have the lines of the proposed Hemple YAK not the Krill YAK... like I said, not a YAK expert but I don't think that there is a comparison on two different aircraft designs. Please don't get me wrong if bulldog9 is an OMP rep. because I like the plane but was intrigued by the lines on this particular aircraft.

I like the lines of the Hemple Yak. Bodywerks is right when he says that the 44% flys awesome. I would imagine Bill will have another winner on his hands.

That is the Yak-55SP - a different design. Comp-arf has one also.
