Default Blade mSR problem?

Hi all just got a blade mSR, great little heli but on the first day of its life it started cutting out (loosing all power) this happened mid flight on about forth or fifth flight, i tried putting a fresh battery in it and re binding it but every time i increase the power it cuts out. Any one had this problem? It seems like a battery conection problem but is only an issue when higher current is been drawn. It has not had any crashes and I will be sending it back for warranty just thought i would see if any one has had this problem before.

Cheers
Chris

I haven't had this problem with mine. I've slammed mine into walls and its fine. Send it back to Horizon, and they will take care of you!

I have not had that problem yet, but I have found the weak link - it's the tail motor. I popped the endbell off the first one somehow(good luck trying to put it back on), and the second one seems to have bound up or something. Now it will only be flyable for about 30 seconds and then the tail rotor doesn't have enough power to keep the heli from torquerolling. Of course, next to the 5-in-1 unit, it is the most expensive part, too

hello, i had the same problem with mine. unplug the tail rotor from the 5n1 unit and it should run till the battery dies. as soon as it got hot it would short out . mine is in the shop now to have the tailmotor replaced.

In the shop? It's like a 5 minute replacement procedure...
I hope I can just replace the tail assembly one more time and not have any problems. I've hit a few things with this heli and so far the tail motor is the only thing that has broke so I shouldn't be complaining.
By the way, these things are a BLAST in a 60,000sq.ft hangar!!!

Thanks guys done some more investigation thismorning and diconnected the tail rotor, all good not cutting out so i had a closer look at the tail rotor motor and the backing plate had poped out i poped it back in and seems ok at the moment, i will "let it develop" and see how it goes. Best part is i have somthing to fly in the house while it is blowing a gale out side.

Cheers

my MSR is now 3 days old...today i started flying it around my shop at work, and all of a sudden it lost all power and hit the ground. i throttled back and waited a few seconds, and the power came back, so i throttled back up, lifted off the ground, and the power crapped out again. the blue LED light on the 5 in 1
goes out also when it loses power. This was strange to me, so i held it in my hand and throttled up...
i went to full power and after about 2 seconds the power drops down to about 25% power, so i pull the throttle stick back down to idle...the blades keep spinning at 25% power!!! they keep spinning until i unplug the battery. Now when i plug the battery in, i give full throttle, and it wont go over 25% power.
WEIRD!!! im definately sending it back to horizon, im just a little upset that im now going to have to wait probably a few weeks before i get to fly it again

I have a MCX, MSR, and a S300. There have been no problems with the S300. The MSR is a little older and I just had problems with hair getting on the shafts and causing problems. Now I periodically check the main and tail shafts for baby hair or rug fibers. My original batteries with the MCX lasted a month, but then I found out from others how to charge them at 1C and use timer so no LVC and second group of batteries are a year old. My old MCX is still flying fine and no problems. I did wear out two sets of motors by flying over 1000 flights. Easy to replace and not that expensive. I did get new blade holders for the MSR,The screw pulled out a little and stripped the plastic. I put CA and it worked, but I figured it deserved to be fixed. I have crashed the MCX frequently during the first months due to trying new aerobatics and flying obstacle courses. The MSR has crashed a bit doing high speed laps in basement and doing stuff like funnels. The MSR even fell off a stack I was holding and went down a flight of stairs with no damage. Wasn't even knocked out of trim. The S300 only once have i had a slight crash bumping into something and I just let it fall without power. No damage and not knocked out of trim. On the MSR I put a strip of book binding tape to hold the end cap and it has never come off yet though I have crashed it a times. Some people may be unlucky enough to have problems come up and it is probably better that they do when under warranty. The link to rcgroups shows were to find solutions to common problems and mods in case you want to customize or try to make more to your liking. Have fun and good luck.

Only a few things? Flying through a truck cab at nite and you just hit a few things..

At the flying field I recall nearly every time I saw someone fly a heli it ended with at least broken blades and usually total destruction. A couple years ago or so I was at E-fest and the guys with helis put together a great show in their demos, but only one did not end with the heli in a pile of broken parts. They had him come out for an encore and he destroyed the heli on the second performance. So I feel with replacing the blade grip on one heli in over a years time that the little MCX,MSR, and S300 are pretty durable in most cases.

we have seen this problem with them at our shop it seems to be the little brass bushing in the tail motor comes loose and causes a little binding in the tail motor i have fixed this with a little lok tite on a toothpic.horizon is really good at waranty of this prob so you would be best to send it back and get it replaced the repair only lasts for a short time as heat causes the loc tite to debond

I talked to horizon about the funky problems I was having, and the guy seemed to think it
was the circuit board. So tuesday i sent the board in, and i threw the motor in the box too because
i noticed that it had been getting really hot after only a few seconds of running.
i probably wont see the new parts till after christmas, but if its fixed after that, i wont mind!
