Capp, please do comment on why it's junk. Just throwing in that kind of info is useless.

Last Toy, I tried a prog mix with throttle as master and slave AUX3. Up until now I have POS0 at +100 at high stick and +50 at low stick. POS1 is at low stick +125 so the pump initializes. Switch is the gear switch with down off and up on. Offset is set at -110 so it takes on after about 1/3 throttle. It looks ok in the Monitor menu I just need to know if I'm down the right route or not.
I bet there is an easier way.

That is about right. For the ESC in the pump to initalize you need your off setting -100 or more. Then on the on setting you need to tweak it so the pump runs on the throttle curve. You will find that the pump needs to only run 1/2 of its speed or less at full throttle to get tons of smoke. Anymore than that and you will just piss fluid out the mufflers and that costs money and requires more cleanup.

I have 3 of these pumps and they are not junk. Like any electronic I've had an issue or two but Sullivan fixed them quick. FYI the first issue was a fried ESC the second one was the - wire on the motor came off. I fixed the latter myself. Other than that you also need to clean out the pumps once a year. The process is in the directions and is very simple. Smoke fluid tends to become gooey after awhile of sitting in the pump.

Sweetpea,

Thanks for the info. Part about the half speed is something I didn't know. So I'll program accordingly.

Thanks again

Here's how I do it. I tune the ESC motor to full throttle at full throttle on the stick. Then I back that down to about half throttle ESC on full throttle stick. Then I try to make a linear curve to a slight hum on the motor at idle. (all this using the gear or mix switch as on/off). Then I test in the driveway at home to be sure I get smoke at idle and large smoke at full throttle. Also that I'm not pumping too much oil into the mufflers thus bogging the motor down via pressure. Then you actually have to fly the plane to fine tune from there. Your first few flights will most likely result in oil on the plane etc. Once you tune it correctly you will only have residue from the smoke itself. This makes cleanup alot easier and the plane last longer as you don't have oil puddling on the outside of the plane.

I find setting the travel also helps get a better curve. Thor.

Exactly !! Use a small servo arm on your throttle servo so that you get 100-150% travel, this will give you the best resolution for both throttle response, and liniar curve for smoke
