Default Build Thread EDGE 540 & CRRCPro 50R & Review

Hi guys, as i'm fairly new to these bigger birds i thought i would share my experiences along the way of building my first 50cc aircraft. This is also going to be a build on a budget but not cheap and nasty (I HOPE). I have purchased a model-flight Edge 540 and am matching it to the new CRRCPro 50R not the 50i. The 50R has a lot more power and an upgraded CDI unit. I will be taking delievery of these components tonight so will keep you posted. Hope you can come along for the ride and help out where necessary!!!

Look forward to the build thread, glad someone else besides me is doing one

What kind of servos (and other gear) are you going to be using?

Well last night i opened up the box, which was well packaged, and had a look inside and to see the quality of the build was very impressive. Everything wrapped in foam and it's own bits of plastic. Also comes with an impressive hardware kit which you can use and don't have to re-supply with better bits. The only gripe i would have is the sticker quality which isn't up to your standard of a pilot kit. But for half the cost i don't mind getting better ones made up. I will be trying out cheaper versions of servos in this case i'm using Tower Pro 966m. I heard good and bad of these products just like you heard good and bad about the high end stuff so for only $20 a servo it fits into my budget.I'm using A123 batteries, HD Rx switch, Opti-kill switch, JR 921 2.4ghz receiver and steered by a Dx7. I will undo all the bits tonight and photograph to show the quality. Just a qucik mention all my stuff is supplied from wolf models in QLD. This guy has to have to best service i have ever come across, hence why i live on the central coast NSW and him in QLd.. Stay PostedClick image for larger version

Sorry that's MR 3D. How have you found the quality? And where are you setting your CG?

Well last night saw me put the tail and fin on the Edge. And to surprise everything lined-up perfectly no re-drilling it was a straight glue the hinges in and put the rod and screw the tail on procedure.
I also put the undercarriage on and mounted the elevator servos all very straight forward. What i am impressed with is the strength and quality of the servo arms that came with tower pro's.i think i will use these except for the rudder where i will use SWB arm. I will try include as many pics as i can along the way. Any comments will be appreciated

Looks pretty sweet! Good luck with her. I have tower pros in the wing on my Reactor 50cc. JR 8311's everywhere else. No complaints so far.

Thanks mate i will do that i have just slotted everything together for the first time and to my surprise it all lines up great and i also mounted the tailwheel which would be home on a 100cc very sturdy and the front wheels and spats went on super easy not like my ultimate.
