Default inrunner case temp.

I have an e-flite inrunner motor(six series 2700kv 28mm) running direct drive.
With a 9x6 prop, 3s 2100 lipo , throttle set for 20 amps. per wattmeter motor gets very hot.
Can anyone tell me what case temp. should I expect?

Hello Alsy, welcome to Flying Giants!

I have not tried an inrunner with direct drive, so I was curious and went to E-flite's website, under tech specs for this motor you are way over propped at 9x6.

Prop should be 5x4 - 6x5.5 as a direct drive and the max operating temp is 220 degrees F.

Here is the link I was referring to:
http://www.e-fliterc.com/Products/Te...rodID=EFLM2005

I hope this helps!

Best Regards
Ernie

using the throttle to set the amsp is not good... the ESC works buy giving short pules of full power very fast.. less on for low throttle more on for higher throttle.. prop it right or get a gearbox if you need that size prop.. or get a cheap outrunner that can take that prop no problem direct

Thanks guys,
I had a feeling that a 9x6 prop was too much seeing that it's a 2700kv motor.
I'll most likely go to an out runner.
Thanks agn, Alsy.

Hey Alsy

You did see the gearbox options on the e-flite website. right?

Put a 2:1 for a 10x6 prop or a 3:1 gearbox for a 12x6 prop.

The Outrunner would be easier though, I like my Himax outrunners!

Hi Ernie,
Yes, I guess I'll go with an outrunner. I have a nice Axi 2820/12 but a little bit to much for the plane.

Thanks agn, Al
