Default Sebart Katana S 120

Dears,
I'm planning to buy a new Sebart Katana S 120, and I'll use my DLE 30cc engine instead of the
recommended engine OS 120AX, will it be much on the plane? and what about the weight? Its really important for me to do 3d with ease specially hovering & harrier.

Hi MSwify, i own a SebArt Katana 120 with an O.S 120AX and its a good flier, loads of power with this combo and i see no reason why a DLE shouldn't fit and do well....but...have you considered the SebArt Sukhoi 140? Its defiantly the better flier (i have also owned one of these aswell) it performs better all round and there is a vid on the SebArt site of a guy flying one with a Mintor 37cc so the DLE 30 would defiantly be no problem in that aircraft

If it was me i would leave the Katana as a glow as it does well with the O.S 120AX combo (light wing loading e.t.c) but if you wanted to go petrol..get the Sukhoi 140

Hope that helps!

Do you think that the wieght diffrence between the 120AX and the DLE (200gr) will affect the performance of the plane? I mean I've seen this plane flying with the 120AX and I loved it, I need to have the same performance using the DLE, do you think is possible?

What about the servos? what setup you use?

I think I'll put the Hitec HS-5645MG

SPECS
Speed: 0.23 sec/60° at 4.8V
Speed: 0.18 sec/60° at 6.0V
Torque: 143.03 oz-in at 4.8V
Torque: 164.2 oz-in at 6V
Length: 1.59" (40.6mm)
Width: 0.77" (19.8mm)
Height: 1.48" (37.8mm)
Weight: 2.11oz (60g)

Hi MSwify, sorry for the late reply, i personally think you would be better off with the O.S 120AX in the Katana, it keeps the whole setup nice and light without any balance issues, plus you don't have the extra weight of a ignition unit and battery e.t.c

Keeping things light is the name of the game

My setup is as follows:

Hitec 5625's on the ailerons
Hitec 5645's on the Elevators
Hitec 5985 on the rudder

So the 5645's will be fine on the ailerons and elevators, but i would get a better rudder servo
Hope that helps

you will prolly have to move things around a bit to get the CG correct....
It will not fly as well with the heavier engine.....
But it still may fly good enuff...

I have the Funtana 140S as an electric with a Hacker C50-14XL...

Originally back in the 10C days, I flew it with a 8000 mah 10S at 12 .5 pounds... it flew very well...

Now, I fly with a 20C 5000 mah 10S and one pound lighter... it flies much better...

I have flown it with a 4000 mah pack, just over 11 pounds and it was really awesome....

if you don't fly under windy conditions... the additional weight will cause the plane to do everything faster, and less damping.....

I would think a Gas single cylinder though would shake the airframe to death rather quickly.... at least I would hate to run a gasser in my 140S for that reason.

Hi Mswify,

I fly the Katana with a CRRC pro 26. No problem with the CG. I think the DL30 is the ideal powerplant for this nice plane.
Total weight 4600g so 500g lighter than the electric version.

I use the follwing servos:

elevators Graupner 806,
rudder and ailerons HS-5985MG.

Maybe overkill, but it does not harm.

Regards from Spain.
