The 12X factory charger is 250 mah and that's a bit more than 1/10C but not much, I think the issue with them is the output voltage is 12.0 rather than the more common 11.6, but who knows for sure? All I know is my batteries got real hot and quit using that charger.

Glad I could help out, the fact that your radio turns on a lot quicker now is a good indication that you were having battery problems and the issues with the tx are probably resolved....
For the first time my 12x reads 11.8 volts....................cool

Why not just peak charge the battery? Then you don't under or over charge it. Just use a low chage rate like 200ma (.2 amps).

Zeeb what kind of run time are you getting on that pack in your tx?

Tex My plane had a trim change right before the cincy contest. I landed and found that a piece of my hatch was lifting in flight just a tad. It cause a good 4 to 6 beep trim change. I CA the piece back in place and the plane went back to normal flight trim. It also played havoc on the "knife edge" mixes

My radio did this i sent the radio into Horizon they fixed the gimbals and recalibrated the system and when I got it back the problem was gone. You have to make sure its the system though and not some loose extentions or servo going south or some other mechanical prob. The way i isolated it to my radio is i copied my programming to a friends 9303 and bound to his radio the surfaces stayed in trim on all rates so that when i contacted Horizon about sending it in. The repair was done under warranty.

Love my 12Z.....
I upgraded the battery replaced it into the cassette and the 10x and I get a lot more time before having to charge the battery. I have another cassette but seeing as I get so much flight time I probably wont bother with upgrading it.

I would still send the TX back for a checkup as its the only common denominator between both problems.

Joe,

Haven't got a clue what the run time would be as I've never just turned on the tx and let it run down. I guess I don't fly nearly as much as some folks do in a day because if I charge the thing on a Friday night, I can fly Saturday and Sunday without the tx ever getting below the mid 10 volt range.

Biggest advantage for me is I don't have to worry 'bout plugging in the tx the night before. If I decide to run outside and fly either my little heli or one of the foamies in my alfalfa field, the chances of the tx needing to be charged due to self discharge of the batteries, is pretty much nil....

Haven't got a clue, are you still running the Futaba recommended pack? Been too long since I had a 9C so I don't remember for sure, but IIRC that's only a 700 mah?

I also don't know what the average power usage is on the 9C but maybe Bax or Krysta could give you the number? From what I've seen posted, tx's tend to run somewhere between 170 mah and 250 mah current draws, so if you figured 250 on that 2000 mah Eneloop that's a LONG time.... lol

I'm running a 2500 Lipo and get long times between charges. My tx keeps track of it. 8.5 to 9.5 hours. I charge outside the tx in a ceramic container. I just wouldn't mind a safer pack in case I were to leave it on by accident. So I wouldn't mind going to eneloop.

You haven't accidentally enabled seperate trims per flight mode by accident have you?

Zeep, Tex et al. I just installed the eneloop battery pack I got from NoBS Batteries into the 12X cassette! I also changed the polarity on the charge plug on my Alpha 4 so I could use it to charge the battery. Plugged everything up, hit the program button and VIOLA it started charging!!

I use the "I" program (C/10 charge until delta equals zero/negative then it goes to trickle charge) on the Alpha 4 to start off with. I will keep my eye on it until later tonight. When it goes into trickle charge, I'll unplug it. Maybe tomorrow I will do one of the discharge programs to see what the "real" capacity is!!

More later.

Bobby
