Default spektrum dx7 display

Question pertaining to dx7 display.
Was getting ready to fly, turned on transmitter and rcv'r, started engine, checked control functions which were fine.
I then glanced at the transmitter display to check battery volts and there was no display?
I turned the transmitter off and back on agn and the display was then o.k
Was wondering if anyone else had experienced a similar condition.

I had seven JR7202 radios that did the same thing. It never affected flying. The same LCD display is used in the DX7. The problem is caused by "static electricity". I have a DX7 and x9303 and I have not had that problem. It happened with my son a lot, it never happened with me. He is 4 inches taller than me. After Horizon replaced my transmitter 7 times(over a 2 year period), I gave up exchanging the transmitter and moved on to 2.4ghz. I know this sounds kind of odd, but I put a lot of time and effort into finding the problem with the LCD display going blank while flying.

Had same issue with DX7, but only once. Powering off and on resolved it.

My DX7 has turned on with - no display, inverse display where the letters were silver surrounded by black, and once where the display was upside down top to bottom. In each instance, turning to transmitter off and then back on cleared the problem. As mentioned above the transmitter functions all worked fine. Only the display was affected.

Mate of mine had his reverse on him once, restarting it did the trick. Here is what I was told.

Quote:
The LCD Displays are commercial off the shelf systems and if the sync pulses from the cpu pcb is off for any particular reason ( ie slight delay in booting up), then the sync can get slightly confused.

Typical displays I have seen (from various US sites) show it to be either upside down, back to front and once both upside down AND back to front). It's not just the DX7 but also on the 7202 (their equivalent to the 2720 which to the best of my knowledge has not suffered from this phenomena)

This is ONLY a display glitch and CANNOT affect the radio or programming, so it cannot interfere with your aircraft. It can only happen on turn on and is typically cleared by turning off and back on again.

Thanks guys,
I haven't had a problem since,(no repeats) and from all the info I got from your responces
it seems to not be a major problem which is a big relief.
Thanks agn, happy flying.
