Send the serial number as to where it is on the engine and also the DLE logo...to Bill Hatcher at Troy Built Models and he will verify if it is a real DLE55. I did and mine was the real deal. There are DLE frauds out there, be ware

First off, enjoy that engine. You paid for it, it's yours, so enjoy.
As for the copy stuff, DA was the first, and until recently, the only manufacturer to use that case design. Also the head porting is specific to their engineering. Two years ago there was a sudden desire by some eastern jobbers to make a quick buck, and the two most prominent engines on the market were DA and 3w. Both were copied extensively, with most of the copies well below the quality of the originals. Only one Chinese manufacturer had the balls to research where an original had short comings and did anything about correcting them. That was DL. That DL originally copied the DA design is difficult to argue. Dimensionally they are close enough the same to be exact where the 50 was concerned. The up side is that DL corrected some long standing issues the DA 50 had, notably the mid range burbal and a crappy transition that was evident in a disproportunate number of engines. With the 55 there can't be any further comments about being a copy since it was both enlarged and improved upon the original 50. The only real question mark is how long one will last agaisnt the other. The DA will last longer than most people will desire to fly them. The DL has a long ways to go before it's ultimate quality s known. Now for those that like to talk about how DL copied DA, you might like to contemplate the origin of a certain DA... And there are several ways to make a rear induction, 50cc single. |

First to use that design ???? I guess none of you people ever looked at a Ryobi...It's design is even better, the exhaust comes out the rear of the cylinder...
Hobby Lobby sold a 28cc rear reed valve 2 stroke model airplane specific engine with beam mounts WAY back when...I had one of the first...The forerunner of the Ryobi..Made just outside Phoenix by the same company that made Rotorway helicopters....

pilotnx, what people here is trying to tell you, there is a fake DL engines out there........ which are sold under DLE name but those are a copy. Not original DLE engines which has.
Also dont worry about service...you can send it to Jody at Valley Vew RC for repair or any problem. He take care of the engines that they sells and also for those who didnt with a very small price. I got mine from China from one of the biggest DLE wholesales. After a crash i send it to them(VVRC) for inspection. here is a pics of mine ![]() ![]() ![]()

Great pictures, F5air.
Yes, same box, the serial number on the cover is in the same place, same decals, even same engine packing. Same engine with the DLE markings and where the serial number is. Mine is serial number A2417, so it's made shortly after yours. Thanks for the heads up on where to send it, if it needs servicing. I do have some friend's in Hong Kong, so before I purchased it from the vendor, I was fairly sure they would stand behind what they sold. I have enjoyed these reply's, because that's why I posted the news about my new engine arriving and where I purchased it from. Hopefully, this will help those on which way to go to save some bucks. But sending it to Mongola for warrenty work had to be the wildest reply and should win the "best bang for the buck" award. As with any purchase, one does need to shop first and then choose, as that is the best road to run. Again, thanks guy's for your reply's. |

While I only have a few gallons through it, it has been easy to start, has excellent compression and great power. I was especially impressed by the seemly short break-in. I've even had it warm restart with a single flip a couple of times, which was somewhat surprising. All in all, it seems to be a great engine that does what it is supposed to do with no down side. |
