Default #42 Montoya is one of us

After the race last week, they were interviewing Juan Montoya (driver of the #42 Target car), and he mentioned that during the week he was working on a Pitts that his wife gave him for his birthday. This little comment caught my ear so I looked to see what I could find out, and yes he's one of us!!!!

On his twitter page he also mentions flying his mig turbine, heli's and whatever else he has in his warehouse, but the thing I found interesting is this.. Here's a guy that has won the Indy 500, the Grand Prix of Monocco in Formula 1 , and currently in the fight for the Nascar championship, stops at a hobby shop tonight on his way to the race in California and calls this "Paradise".

http://twitpic.com/knaxr

Picked up 5 of 'em so he had something to do in the downtime this weekend .

Eddie Hill is a GS hucker too. Yep, He and his wife are very cordial. Also Bob Panella jr, who dominated Pro Stock Truck in the late ninties before NHRA eliminated the class entirely. He flies GS. There are a lot of RCer's in auto racing.

Not really surprised, I know alot of drivers are into rc., Tony Stewart owns a car manufacturer.
Just found it interesting that with all he's got going on lately, a collection of foamies gets him excited.

I guess we are all the same

I remember back in my RadicalRC days again, we got a call from a guy who worked/s with Hendrick MotorSports. We worked on a battery powered timing light. It ended up being pretty cool!!!! It would use 10 NiMH 720 cells!!!!! I forget what the cats name was who worked there........ Sorry if you are on here brother!!!!

Anyone seen an older episode of American Chopper, probably 2007/8??? My buddy and his flight team showed up there in NY and payed a visit to the shop. And ironically enough, Pauly and the guys were building a helicopter bike!!!! They pan to the Blade CoAX chopper with him flying it!!! I guess it shows that about any "Joe" can get on TV!!!! HEHEHE!!! There is video clip of the TV show on his site...... gogodspeed.com

TV is over rated. Breeds couch potatoes, not scientists or engineer's.

Eddie is from my home town (Wichita Falls Tx), my parents used to see him out at the flying field all the time.

Funny story, my mom ran into him at DFW airport once, My mom was sitting next to him waiting on a plane, and she tells him "I know you". He looks at her and says "you a big fan of NHRA"? Mom tells him "what?, I have watched you fly your helicopters"! He and his wife started laughing. My mom had no idea he raced dragsters.
