Default Where is the best place to fly giant 3D in Sydney?

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum and was wondering where is the best place to fly giant 3D in Sydney. I have just bought my first large scale 3D plane and need somewhere to fly. I am a member of WRCS, but the field is in a gully shrouded by bush and although I am used to flying large scale warbirds, I have never flown 3D on anything bigger than 50", so I would like a big field to maiden/fly my new Comp ARF Extra 300.

I live in Mosman, so north would be good, but I also head out to Windsor each weekend.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

James

Drop by the field at the drop zone out the front of RAAF Base Richmond. I'm sure the guys down there wont mind, I used to fly there before we moved up here. Huge field and pretty relaxed crew.

Hi Guys,

thanks for that. The RAAF sounds like the place to go. I have a shed out at Glossodia where I build my planes, so the RAAF is super close. )

Hello all, I would like to visit the great land down under. There are many things my wife and I would like to see, how things are on the other side of the equator first hand. Of course my secret motive would be to find the GS action close to the more popular tourist sites, "oh look there's some airplanes flying over there." We are caught between Australia and New Zealand for our destination, so many appealing things to see in both places. What would you recomend as the most pleasant month to visit temperature wise? We are coming up on winter in Japan, I understand the season is opposite there? Sorry to hi-jack the thread. PM's would be alright to keep this thread clear if is a problem.

Yes there is aero-towing on Saturdays, but I haven't been involved yet. I just did a year in QLD and haven't flown gliders since I've been back. I have a fully moulded carbon composite 3.8m HPH (Glassflugel) 304cz, which I used to fly in QLD and I'm building a 1/4 scale Hall Cherokee II, and I own a full size one which I'm restoring. I'm keen to get back into RC gliding over the summer.

I'm actually putting a tow release in my CARF Extra.... I figure it could come in handy one day.
