Just out of curiosity. What do you guys think of the earlier sim versions like G1 , G2, G3 etc physics wise to the latest version? I know the graphics and effects are far better but how did the older ones compare to really flying a model?

I prefer the older versions of G3. I just updated to use the IMAC edit of the 330L, but I will probably revert back shortly.

Biggest improvement in my opinion was from G2 to G3. After that, I thought the physics got worse. Others won't agree but I actually went back from 3.5 to 3. Tried 4 and 4.5 extensively at the hobby shop and wasn't impressed enough to upgrade. I'm sure with a lot of tweaking to the aircraft you'd get 4.5 to fly better but for me old G3 is very good and I don't need a new computer.

Each version is better and more realistic then the previous....

I like G4.5 and I've used RF since version 2. I'm glad that KE is coming out with an alternative upgrade path because it really sucked to have to cough up $200 for each release... I'd sell the previous version on eBay, so that helped soften the blow. I just upgraded my computer to a ATI Radeon 5870 and a quad core CPU overclocked to 4Ghz, so I'm ready for any graphic updates.

one nice thing about the newer renditions is the ability to download most, if not all, of the planes from KE. my flying buddy has 3.5 and he isn't able to download many of the airframes that i can dump into 4 and 4.5.

(atleast he hasn't been able to, maybe we are doing something wrong?)

I will vote with my money on Aerofly. Every update to GX I have bought was lacking.

the free planes only fly as good as they are setup.

I look foward to seeing if G5 flys more realisticly.... If they can get spins and snaps down, I think it might be worth it. I'm still not impressed with what I've seen. Doesn't look like they've improved any flight characteristics... But I will give it a fair shake, given the opportunity.

I look foward to seeing reviews by people not on the Hobbico payroll.

Galloping Ghost, the new Aerofly looks hopefull! I hope you will do a full review on it!

...5870 How are you liking that? I'm still with 4870x1, hoping to build a new computer soon though.

I only fussed with it for 10 minutes last nite.... but I was able to tweak a model in about 3 minutes to fly pretty dang good!

Feels like the inertia is more realistic and the snap/spins seem better too!!

The reason why the newer versions of simulator software are easier, is in my mind that if the simulator was as realistic it wouldn't be as much fun lol, and plus there is so much physics involved to calculate, that you can't make it AT THE FIELD REALISTIC you do need a fairly accomplished computer to run the sim on max settings, but that doesn't mean you need a i7 920 overcloaked to 3.8ghz and dual gtx 280's.

Anyone else fuss with this yet? I have been having a blast on this.....
the same model with the same tweaks (as 4.5) seems to spin and snap more realistically... aND THE HARRIER aileron response seems better too...

who is gonna go multiplayer tonight!!

lol
