Default 5 - 6 channel FASST RX working with a 10C??

Hey guys.....

I have been doing some searching around and hopefully someone can help me out here. I have some smaller electric birds i want to get up into the air. I have all my big gasser already switched over to FASST with the 8ch and 14ch RX's.

But i need some advice on which 5-6 channel RX's i should use on these smaller birds that will take "normal" sized servo leads. They aren't really park flyers either, as a park is to small for these things. One bird is the little PA Addiction which....yeah , i could fly it in the park. But i'm getting one of the little PA 58" extras as well......and a park is just to small.

So i need a full range RXin a 5-6channel ( or something close to it) for these mid-sized birds that will work on my 10C.

any help would be great.

I have been using the R617FS 7 channel receiver in my mid size electric planes and even a 50cc plane and have not had one bit of trouble. The new R6106HFC 6 channel reciever is supposed to be availbel in late October and that looks like a good bet also, and cheaper.

Thanks sailing. So is the RF617 compatible with a 10C then? I thought i had read some where that some of the smaller FASST RX's wouldn't work with some of the upper end radios. But i'm not sure where the line is drawn......as in which is the smallest RX available that will work with a 10C.

The only compatibility issue is the 3 and 4 channel "surface" receivers (603FF, 603FS, 604FS) will not work with the 6 channel and above FASST radios.

Likewise the 6 channel and above FASST receivers will not work with the 3 and 4 channel "surface radios".

The R6004FF park flier receiver works with all the 6 channel and above FASST radios, including teh 10C, but not with the 3 and 4 channel surface radios..

By looking at the futaba website , it looks like i could use the HF6106HF and HFC RX's.....but dang it .....that website is confusing to me. Jason is using the 606........where the heck are those ones? I also can't tell if they except the normal sized servo leads....do they? I run a lot of the smaller hitec servos on these little birds like the HS-55 , HS-65 , HS 82's and 85's and so forth.....and they all have the normal sized servo leads.

I'm just double checking here , so i don't go buy 3 -4 of these servos and they aren't good for a normal range ( not just park or indoor) and can accept the normal sized servo leads.

Thanks for your help guys.

BTW......i had no idea my 10C has a 7ch mode? I guess i have to switch it on over to that , to get these smaller RX's to work correct?

Quick edit.....it says that the 6106's are good for up to 300 meters.....don't think that's gonna cut it. i may end up having to get a few 8ch Rx's i guess?

The R606FS is shown on the chart:

http://2.4gigahertz.com/modules/modules-receivers.html

It is no longer a current production receiver however.

The one and only FASST RX that used the smaller leads is the R616FFM. All other RXs, including the tiny R6004FF use normal size servo plugs.

Yes, the chart above shows that it must be in 7-channel mode for all but the 8 and 14 channel receivers.

Why not get the 617? It is very small and light and is full range. 300 meters is a good long distance. Over 900 feet. Set what ever you are planning to use down and pace off that distance to see what it looks like!!

Thanks Judge! Looks like i'll just pick up a couple 617's. I may just get the 6008HS RX though to. I haven't had any of the newer HS RX's yet , and i use the 8ch and 14 channel RX in my bigger birds anyways.....could always swap them out.

I should have mentioned that the 606's are from way... WAY back when. I have 617's, just haven't ruined my 606's yet. I do run the 617 in my 110 pattern plane since I needed the extra channel.

What about the 6106HFC? it's a "mid range" rx that goes farther than the park flyer version of the 6106. check it out here. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXXNA3&P=0

Jason may chime in on this, but I have not found that the High Speed mode of the HS receivers does much of any notice with airplanes. It shows up mostly if you are flying extreme stick banging 3D helis.

The high speed mode does not make your servos faster, reduce latency (time from moving the stick to the servo moving) or increase resolution.

What it does is allow the servo to achieve its max holding torque faster which is a real benefit when smashing the sticks to the stops as fast as you can. But for airplanes I have not been able to detect any real difference in how the plane feels.

There's a high speed mode?...lol. Judge is right on, it's a heli benefit.

though not endorsed nor recommended by HOBBICO and FUTABA, as a test, I flew a 39" Foamie to the edge of my visibility with the "postage stamp" sized Futaba R6004FF 2.4GHz FASST Air Indoor Micro 4-Ch Rx .... and had 100% solid link.......
I would estimate 1200 feet....

As expected... the stated ranges are likely to be conservatively low

I had the same results with that little R6004, but if you go to Robbe/Futaba website, you will find that they claim 300 meters (1000 feet)range, not 300 feet like Hobby Services.
