Default HITEC HSR-5995TG

Hi, I was trying to buy some 5955 the other day off of a reputable vendor and they didn't have any but they told me the 5995 where the same other than a small mounting nut underneath. After purchasing 12 I found out there where no grommets and no adittional servo arms other than the 3/4 inch aluminum. These 5995 have 180 degrees of movement, my question is since I mainly 3d are these servos worth the extra throws or are they just not suitable for a 40% plane and can I get the grommets and round servo arm supplied with the 5955.

People have used the 5995 before on everything from 25% to 40%. When you program them, you have to leave your ATV's at 100. I'd say post something in the Hitec forum on RCU.

Centeno,

The first thing Hitec will tell you is these are Robot servos and NOT RC servos. I have been there done that. They are a proper poofter to program as even with the 1.04 software in the programmer they dont program the same as the 5955.

Maybe with the ATV's at 100% they will be OK but if you move the ATV then you loose your end points etc that you set with the servo programmer. Plus you have to buy the grommets and ferrules extra as they do not and will not come with the servos you purchased.

Yes they work really well once you get them sorted out but it way harder than need be.

If you need grommets www.servocity.com have them by the bag full. They are not expensive but you dont expect to have to buy them either with a $115 servo.

My call is if you can trade them back and wait a little to get the 5955's you will save yourself some heartache. If your a patient tinkerer then go with what you have. They do work once setup.

The 5995TG servos are purpose built for robots, robot applications don’t use grommet mounting systems and various arm configurations therefore these items are not included with the 5995TG's. As mentioned Hitec does not recommend utilizing the 5995TG in aircraft, however they will work providing you limit ATV/End-Points to approximately 100%. Limiting travel volume as noted is not desirable in aircraft applications and consumes system resolution, finite travel steps and or intervals.

The robot servo travel arc is 180 degrees with a pulse swing of approximately 400us or micro-seconds verses the atypical aircraft servo at 120 degrees travel arc and 600us pulse swing.

The robot servo does not include the CNC aluminum heat sink center section and includes the 3D robot bottom cap/case mount and a standard bottom case cap.

The 5995TG utilizes the same firmware as all other v1.04 digital servos and programming parameters are identical. A Hitec Programmer with revision v1.04 software is required to properly program all v1.04 digitals. If your programmer does not splash a revision number across the screen on start-up its good to go.

Early release v1.04 digitals of any model number require more sinking current than Futaba PCM RX’s can provide when paired in multiples driven from a single channel source and or wye and require a free component update to work seamlessly with Futaba PCM RX’s.

I’d return the servos and ask for 5955TG’s, if I recall Hitec USA presently has 5955’s on the shelf with Futaba/uni plug pigtails. 5955’s with the Hitec “S” or universal connector are in transit to the USA.
