now they are saying the balloon had a basket attached but when it landed neither the basket nor boy were there.
Beginning to look like maybe the kid was never there to start with.

Even if the kid was in the ballon it would have been very bad. it was air born for what like 90 minutes. and it was filled with helium. in a matter of minute the kid would be dead from asphyxiation
Now they are saying there was a box like item attached. AT SEE LEVEL helium will lift what like .067 pounds per cubic foot. like ben said you need 750 cubic feet to lift 50 pounds TOTAL!!! that is not including the weight of the craft, rope, basket, and payload I dont know what the dimensions are of the craft but guys it just dont add up. not to mention the altitude around the Denver and fort collins area is what 5000 feet. lets say the the craft weighs 10 pounds with the basket (which is WAY pushing it) it still just dont add up. And If the size is big enough to actually make this work I bet we will find they were playing around with pay load and just so happens the boy was the right weight for zero buoyancy(at best), which is kind the point in how the flying saucer thing worked, and the wind picked up and and drug the kid. I dont know I am just thinking out loud kinda. |

The ground search continues for a missing Colorado boy. Authorities say the 6-year-old climbed into a box attached to a runaway balloon. The box has not been found.

Since he was found in the attic at home, I'm going to make a bold prediction:
the whole thing will later be discovered to have been a publicity stunt of some kind, orchestrated by the parents. Why? Because it strains credulity that the builder of the balloon didn't know it was impossible. Apparently there was no structure onboard capable of even supporting a child, i.e. no place for him to ride, and it wouldn't have lifted him anyway. Dad had to know that. Ergo, dad was faking. Ergo, dad will be having some hard times...
