Hey guys, if foam airplanes and electric heli's are your bag, you need to get on over to Muncy, PA to the 2009 Keystone Indoor Electric Fly.
Last years event was said to be a really good time, and everyone that went said they were coming back and bringing a friend. The guys from KIEF say this: The First Keystone Indoor Electric Fly took place on October 18th, & 19th, 2008. The event was held just outside of Williamsport, Pa in the Generations Sports Complex Dome, the largest air suspended dome in the country! Many of you northeast pilots may recall that this event (KIEF) was set to take place on March 2, and 3rd 2007 in Scranton. Unfortunately the dome was ruined in a freak snowstorm three weeks before the event. Well, we regrouped and made the move to the GSC Dome. We are planning KIEF 2009 with a ton of flying as this fun fly will start Friday at 9 am - 11 pm, Saturday at 9 am - 11 pm and Sunday 8 am - 5 pm. Lots of things planned from demos at noon to night flying, micro scale competitions, indoor pattern competition (F3P), seminars, vendors, combat and more. One of the cool things about this dome (besides it’s huge size and ample pit/vendor areas) is it has two separate flying areas that are separated with a floor to ceiling net. What does this mean? MORE FLYING! While special short events take place, pilots can still fly in the other flight area! Very little down time. While this is not only an AMA sanctioned event it will be supported by our AMA president and district VP. We welcome Bob and Dave and hope they bring lots of planes! Our good friend and FG correspondent Arron "theKM" Bates will be getting pics and video of all the action so check back often through out the weekend. Same here. Would love to be there but I'm still editing the TAS footage and answering FLG's endless requests for photos..."Hey what about that picture of me in the desert with the pretty sunset...and the one with me punching Gernot in the stomach...and the one Matt took of the horney toad...and the one..." Next time I'll let HER sort the 3000 pics down to the best 500.

Wow, what a start to what's sure to be an amazing weekend! Pilots from all four corners of the country, some from overseas. Everyone's having a great time. Some REAL amazing pilots and real cool planes. If the warm up flights are any indication, tomorrows noon demo flights will be fantastic!
Hope you can make it tonight, tomorrrow or Sunday. Bring planes and bring plane money . Lots of great deals going on too. We're fortunate enough to have one of our demo pilots show up with one of the most sought after micro planes prototypes. Lee Morey brought along the new Micro 4-Site from E-flite. What an amazing plane. Tons of eyes on that plane the second someone saw the box. Lee has to walk around with it handcuffed to his wrist in an effort to make sure it goes back to headquarters .Here's a few photos so far. Tons more going on. Hope you can make it. .........Mark |

Finally got things squared away to hit the road. Central PA had the earliest snow on record, but didn't matter for an indoor event. Arriving later than intended didn't mean any less fun when the flying continues all the way up to 11pm.
The largest air supported structure makes for an awesome indoor venue I have to say. And structure aside, what's going on is some high quality fun. So far it's a well organised event, and I'm certainly happy to be here. Spent most of the time at the aerobatics area, but will be making sure to take in the micro's tomorrow between taking in the scheduled events. Anyway's, here's 100 pics of the fun tody (I'm sure that Jamie's Blender would have been hosed in the inverted hover regardless of me calling for "lower!"). |

I also have a spiffy video of RJ flying some VPP madness, will look at slapping a title on the front of it and uploading it during breakfast. Nick Maxwell has booked a hatcam date to show off his eggbeater tomorrow...

...Jamie also got me back later by simulating multiplayer in a simulator by blocking my flying by hovering super close. Actually there was a "blocked by hovering" battle later in the evening between the guys that was very amusing... will have to recreate and get a wide shot...
