Default First Big electric setup

Placed my orders last night.

I ordered a Hacker A60-16L
Turnigy Sentilon
Turnigy programmer
2 x 6 cell 20c Lipo packs ( more batteries will be ordered in the spring )
and another charger to be able to charge 2 packs at the same time.

A lot of the threads I have been reading have most useing the 18L with a 24x12 prop.
I went with the 16L because I don't have clearance for a 24 inch prop and was thinking more in the lines of 22x12 or 23x10.

The plane I am converting is the Great Planes Giant Reactor. They claim about 17 lbs with an electric setup. Wing area is 1550.

I am in the right area for prop selection ?

Not meaning to high jack the therad or knock you and i dont know alot about this setup but will it have enough power? I had one with a da 50 on it and it could have used more grunt. But im very interested in seeing how it comes out. by the way its close with a 23 in prop on clearence for that plane. Might think about a set of custon tnt gear for it that is what was on mine and ask them to build it an inch or 2 taller.

What elevation are you at ? I am at approximately 960ft , I was using a DL50 with a Xoar 22x8. It would accelerate out of a hover
As for the Hacker A60, I have watched a bunch of videos. Planes at 17lbs are leaping out of a hover. 19 lb planes pull out quite well also.

I am at about 500ft. but it had plenty of pull out power but i noticed it lacking power in IMAC style manuvers where it could have used more power on long uplines. It would just lose alot of airspeed. I think this is mostly becasue of the large surface area of the wing causing drag at speed because i dont have that problem at all with the same motor on my 2.12m Comp Arf. But if your only intention is to 3d it you probably wont have any problem pulling out of a hover or doing rolling harriers. or anything at slow speeds. I had enough power for that no questions asked.

You won't be disappointed with your selection, however I have not flown mine w/ anything but 24x12 and I can promise you it has as much if not just a bit more pull than DA or DL 50's.

Yes i think my plane is a little slower than gas counterpart at full speed, but not by much and I can promise you I have better punch when I hit the go stick from any speed. Its just different and I am still getting used to the power curve as it is much different.
I still love my gas burning airplanes though. LOL

You might want to try a 22x10 with the A60-16L with 12s lipo. should plenty of power and keep the amps down a little. If I remember correctly Amps with the 22x10 are in the area of 80-90.

Reserve the 24x12 props for the 18L motors, its better suited for the larger props since the KV is a little lower.

If it performs well on a 22x10, that would be great.
