I don't have anything against Vess props, I run a 22b on my 55cc and it works good but I also have a PAU 22-8 and an Xoar 22-8 to try on it as well, and will be ordering a JC 22-8 or 10 to try also. I think Lee summed up the way I think about props quite well. I remember back in the 50s we thought Tornado props were the only way to go, course there weren't near as many choices back in those days. Tom |

I have a very nice scar down the length of my left forefinger from stopping an O.S. 1.60 with an APC on it. They are both great props but there are way too many things to consider to compare them. Like apples and oranges I'm afraid as the APC has the "W" props, which I always used on my YS engines, and a whole series of others. Given a specific engine, in a specific plane, flying a specific style, you could compare the two but that's about it. I'd recommend APC for new guys as they don't break as easy on those hard landings.

My APC scar looked much more impressive back when it happened. No scar at all today, despite that the tip of my thumb was split like the letter "Y".
Al, you are so right. The W props are great, and that's all I use on my remaining YS stuff. They do pull extremely well.

Yeah, they're pretty much all that I ever bought. Great prop for flying slow and plenty of pull. The Vess props are, however, a lot lighter and spool up now.

you know the best thing is buy them both and determine what you like better. everyone has there own flying style and likes. im sure both will be just fine though.

You might check out an APC 17-4W for that 110, great 3D prop. Throughout the many years I've been in this hobby I have learned to keep my appendages out of the prop.................

I know; I thought about that right after I sent that post in. That afternoon I left the Velox and it's APC at home and just flew the gasser. Tom |

hi dificult to say which prop is best -----as we are always proping the airframe and engine combo--vertical performance being the guage for best--so you have to try different props for each airframe and engine combo --and you will have your best prop for your airplane and engine----ANSWERED through that process--it is a trial and error process for each airframe and engine combo--you will know which is best when flying your up lines

As someone else stated there is no prop that is best for every application, you can test and tune,, but as far as personal customer service Vess Props has the best in the business, I think with all of the sizes of Vess's you will find something that will work for 90% of all applications,,

That may be true in the Props you are using....(23''+) but doesn't fit in this scenario... I have yet to see the smaller wood props out -do the composites of APC... 17X8 and below... My comparison doesn't include the Vess though... only APC and the Xoar. This was comparing a 17X8 Apc and a xoar 16x8 plywood not Beachwood... on a OS 1.20 AX piped. or not... Which is quite bias in itself... The APC was night and day in my case.... I too, am looking for a good combo between the saito 1.25 and QQ 69" yak... I have a Evolution 16x6 right now and a 16x6 xoar in a bag that I ordered ... (the local hobby store is lucky to have anything past a .91 size engine supplies) I have only flown with this combo 2-times and it was break in flights and it was wayyy tail heavy so I can't really say.... The Evolution looked similar to a APC...and only other option at the LHS was a PowerPoint
