I have yet to see the smaller wood props out -do the composites of APC... 17X8 and below...
My comparison doesn't include the Vess though... only APC and the Xoar.
This was comparing a 17X8 Apc and a xoar 16x8 plywood not Beachwood... on a OS 1.20 AX piped. or not... Which is quite bias in itself...
The APC was night and day in my case....

I too, am looking for a good combo between the saito 1.25 and QQ 69" yak...
I have a Evolution 16x6 right now and a 16x6 xoar in a bag that I ordered ... (the local hobby store is lucky to have anything past a .91 size engine supplies)
I have only flown with this combo 2-times and it was break in flights and it was wayyy tail heavy so I can't really say.... The Evolution looked similar to a APC...and only other option at the LHS was a PowerPoint
One thing about those TF Powerpoints...Cheap!! Cheap!!!. You can buy 3 Top Flite Powerpoint props for the price of 1 Vess same size.

Yaks, I was running a YS110 on 30% with APC 16x6 on a Aeroworks 72" yak 54. I got a Vess 17x6 from Robert at a swap meet and never looked back. Changed everything about the plane. Made it a little slower, but what a machine. Snaps, hovering, everything was better. The airplane just plain flew better. This is my experience....
