Default 50 oz. Dubro Fuel Tank

This damned thing just kills my fingers to put together. I've done so many of them but every time I do my fingers just catch hell. Between trying to get the brass tubes through the stopper and finally pushing the whole ball of wax through the tank hole my fingers are screaming ENOUGH!

I know someone out there in FG land has a real slick way of assembling a DUBRO fuel tank without so much pain involved. I personally would pay you for the trick.

If you put a little Vaseline on your fittings and they will slide right in. I do this all the time and have never had a problem with leaking and still have all my fingers.

The 3W tanks work very nicely. You can also try using rubbing alcohol when pushing the tubes and stopper into place. I have not seen any damage to the gas stopper from the alcohol.

Just put a smear of soap or vaseline over the tubes and or stopper and it goes in easily. Never found assembly to be a problem on any tank Dubro size tank.

Put a small amount of lub on the tubing . place the end of the tubing on the bench and a socket on the stopper ans push down . no hurty our old fingers . The thing that get me is the brass flair tube that goes on the servo mounts in the rubber gromet . I now use a soldering tool that is pointed but gets gradualy larger . Slide the brass on and it can be put into the gromet in nothing flat .

I drill out the holes in the stopper to loosen them up just a bit, slides right in.

Friends don't let friends use a bad fuel tank and crash their plane.

Check this out before you put that non-see thru, likely-to-leak tank in.

Have you inspected the neck of the tank closely?

The Dubro's are heavy, but they work. I have a 50ish oz durbo in my 40% and it works great. I may swap it out for a lighter tank, but it's fine for now. The soda bottle thing is fantastic. I just assembled a 12oz soda bottle tank for a 30cc Yak and it has an AUW of 1.9oz....the original tank that came with it had an AUW of 3.2oz....that's a 60% difference between the 2.

I like soda bottles but that uneven lip on dubro tanks doesn't really matter. All of their tanks seem to have that. The tanks do not seal in front of the lip so it doesn't cause a problem.
