Default Advice A124 connections

I have a some gaps when it comes to LIPO's and need some advice on
the following;
- my setup will be a 30% OMP Extra 300 DLE55 4.8v ignition
- Parallel LIFE A 123's (2000's) 3.3@ total 6Volts (NOBS batteries)
- Hitec 7955TG's all around (5) ,one lesser for throttle
- I am unclear on charging(balancing) these guys.

I will be using a Triton 2 EQ charger with Electicfly multi plug balancing board. I believe it will do a full cycle routine on 123's

The connectors I want to use on the cell tap for the A123's will have a standard Futaba or JR extension plug , the same as the charge leads.

- So , how do I distinguish the correct polarity (color code) when plugging onto the Electricfly balance board (three pin male molex connector) when using this type of standard female servo extension plug?

As mentioned before, both charge lead and cell tap will have the same standard Futaba connectors.

- Also, can I balance charge only before each flying session or do I need to balance charge between flights when needed?

thanks in advance

Sorry, I meant to say LIFE A123 not 124 batteries
Also, they are 2300 mah and not 2000 mah hours.

You do not really need to balance a123s very often...or at all. My fromeco a123s don't even have balance connectors. LiPo batteries on the other hand should be balanced regularly.

I have four airplanes all running A123 packs, I made them myself. I don't balance them, and charge them all with the Fromeco Cube. Not a single issue, they are by far the best setup for your airplane.. IMO..

Hello DJMarch

I think if you want to balance these packs, the darker lead is the most negative. IE: Futaba Black = Negative, on JR Dark Brown is Negative. the lightest is the most positive.

On the image from the Electrifly balance board, I marked the Negative and Positive terminals.

This makes sense to me because as you add cells the connector becomes larger, but the most negative is always the same.

P.S. this is just my thoughts, as I have not installed balance taps on my A123s

I hope this helps.

Ernie
