Default pitts mufflers vs cans on DA 100

I am building a 35% pilot-rc extra and I am trying to decide which route to go for exhaust. I am not looking for a sound difference, but rather a noise level difference. Any coments or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Alex

cans will be alot quieter than the mufflers. but at a weight penalty. but if you used a carbon fiber prop like mejzlik it would help the noise but cans are best for noise issues.

Noise isnt an issue at this point, but I know that in the upper IMAC classes you are judged on sound. Personally, I like the loudness though

On average cans will be about 5-6db quieter then standard mufflers

IMAC sound scores are based on exhaust and prop noise. To get good sound scores your best bet is canisters and a good prop that does not go supersonic or atleast make sure you have good throttle management.

If you were to run standard mufflers and a three blade prop you can get decent sound scores also just the more common way is canisters

If you want to be even more quiet just install a set of MTW re2 tuned pipes and run a mej 25*12S 3blade.Your plane will sound like an electric in the air. Also the MTW tuned pipes are quieter than the canisters. I like them alot
