Default 50 CC Tuned pipe recomendations

Hi Guys,

I have an upcoming project and am looking for some recomendations on a tuned pipe for a 50cc. I would be interesting in opinions on header length and prop combinations.

I look forward to your input.

cheers,

JEff

P.S if anyone has one for sale pm me

What motor are you going to use?

My old man is running a DA50 on a MTW RE2 pipe in his pilot extra 300. He is using a 12inch header and a mejzlik 23x8. Still running in (only had about 5L through it) and it is turning 6800rpm. It has a little just as it comes onto the pipe but this could be easily fixed with a slight throttle curve.

I have setup my 35% extra with the same pipes and header lengths on a DA100, will be turning a 25x12 3 blader. Yet to run this setup but from what I have read and seen from others it should be a good combo.

I would recommend MTW re2's, I setting up my new 35% Dalton 260 with a Da-100 and re2's. TTYe Dalton I loss was using the same setup. I was running a mej 25*12s 3 blade. My motor is new and I was getting 6400 with that prop. I did not have a throttle curve. Your plane will sound like an electric in the air and the vertical is ridiculous. On my new Dalton am going to run xoar 27*10 carbon tip til I can another 3 blade.

It depends on the plane. If it's already going to be hard to get it to balance(most 50cc planes come out tailheavy) then the last thing you want to do is add more weight aft of the CG, in which case the ESComposites is your best bet. I used them on a 100cc bird and was very pleased with them. However, I would venture to say that, if the RE2's are anything like the RE3's I have on my 170, the RE2's would be a better pipe.

I'd go with an RE-2, or KS-1060. Both are great pipes, with top notch performance!

Hi Daniel,
What planes did you you fly the RE-2 and the KS-1060's on?
What header length did you end up with for both pipes?
Are your temps and performance the same at the beganing and end of your flight?

I have a CARF Yak with a DA-100L and am having trouble dialing in the mid-range on the KS-1060's

I'd like to throw a pipe on one of my 50cc planes but not sure which pipe to go with. Seems the Greeves are more of a plug and play from what I've heard but have no personal experience.

I'm so glad FG is here so we can all share our learned experience.

Thanks,
Damon

The Greves are great in a 100cc but it's hard to get them to fit in a 50cc. I looked to see if one would fit in my 88" Yak and the tunnel is about 4" to short. One of my friends here has a EF Extra with a DA-50 and RE-2 and it's working good with a 1" over header. I'm currently trying two more pipe setups. One plane has a DA-50 and ES composites pipe and the other has a Brillelli 60 and a KS 1060 pipe. I'm looking forward to trying them and seeing how they work out.
