Hacker makes a mount specifically for it...you sort of need it, or something that works exactly like it. It mounts the motor into a cradle and supports it at both ends.

the gyroscopic precession generated by the prop and motor combined mandate a front and rear motor support.....
this motor is a lot of power!!! Contact the folks at Hacker Brushless USA... they will help you! |

The "Mad-Dog" mount is a good option...
Eric on RC Groups makes them, his user name is mad-dog Scott Last edited by Scott Gerber; 10-20-2009 at 02:27 PM. |

Thanks Guys,
I got it now. I can see where trying to mount it like a normal outrunner in front of the mount would have too much side load on the motor. I just spoke with HackerUSA and they told me who to call here in Canada to get the mount for it.

Nevermind...I see that you need a bearing and shaft at one end.

In my opinion the "maddog" mounts by Kevin are by far a more solid and reliable mounting solution. Again this is my experience and my opinion, but I can guarantee I don't worrie about mine anymore. Dan |

the mad dog mounts may work... but technically, a horribly un-optimized design!
How is the torque from the motor reacted??? It is reacted at the base of each standoff.... if the bolts loosen even a tiny bit, or the wood compresses... it get dangerously sloppy..... if the standoffs were replaced with a box... that would be better...well... less bad.... the standoffs around the motor do not efficiently react the torque..... the design may work, but if one of my engineers handed me a drawing of this... he wouldn't be getting a Christmas Bonus!! just sayin' |

Yes, a fabricated box, that'll be easy to build for $60. I recommend you lead the way.

I can't see how it's any different than having stand offs on a gasser, and practially all rear mount gassers use stand offs.

Well, better throw the standoffs away and build a box...

if the engine box itself is spaced out properly, no standoffs needed.... in the case of an outrunner such as the Hacker A60, a simple molded composite engine mount would not be that difficult... two molded parts...or one molded part and one turned part with a bearing... and a few screws.... If the standoffs had a 45 degree element... they would be much better.... |
