Where are you guys finding the mad dog mount.... And is it lighter than the hacker? I have an A60 and hacker mount on a 70 inch EF extra and the mount is very heavy. Had to move the rudder servo to the tail for balance.

You can find the mounts here:

The mount is heavier than the Hacker mount. The main benefits are that it is stronger and uses the same bolt pattern as the DA-50.

Anyone know where I can find a shim that might make my gas prop work? Sending this size prop back isn't cheap!

I had the Hacker mount break on me. Now that I have the Mad-Dog mount, no problems. You wont be disappointed!

What spinner are you all using? Does any tru-turn fit the 25x12 prop?

How much heavier? I'm having a tough time balancing my plane with the stock hacker mount an a60. It's 1.5lbs lighter than a da50.

How do you guys get around the 8mm shaft problem? most props and spinners are drilled to 10mm.

Also has anyone tried the Hyperion 5045? the specs look the same but it is cheaper..... worth a go or just get the Hacker?

Ok guys. I just ran up my a60-18L on fresh 12s5000mah packs (they are 35c packs from esprit) swinging an apc 24x12. I couldn't stay near full throttle for very long because the wind it was producing was a little too much for my room

The peak watts i had were just under 5k!! Amps hit 114... which is no problem for my esc (hv160) but I'm worried about the hacker. That seems way too high. My timing is set to low and my other settings are per this thread. Should this settle down to below 4k watts pretty quickly?

I was running a 22x10 or 12 on mine it dropped the amps way down- it was about 3600 watts and 60 amps.. It would rip the prop.. I will say the mad dog mount is tuff.. I planted my plane straight in from about 30 feet after the rudder broke and locked hard over.. The motor is toast but the mount survived and with minimal flattening will fly again..

I ran it up again and got around 4k watts and 100 amps max but would settle to a little below 4k watts and around 95 amps.

I wanted to go with a 25x12 but now I'm worried. All this data is from the ice hv 160 with the newest software. My rpms were around 5200. Thoughts?

I will be honest, I think you are trying to run way too big of a prop on it with the 25x12. You are up in the higher end of the amp/wattage rating of the motor with the 24/12. I think you will probably hurt it with the 25/12.. 5200 rpm seems to be in the ballpark for what you are running- hackers data sheet shows 5400rpm on 42v. You have to remember that your batteries voltage may sag a bit more under load so the 25x12 will suck more amps and drop the voltage resulting in lower rpm.. What are you trying to fly with this setup??

Thanks for the info. The reason I was thinking a 25x12 is because that seems to be the recommend setup. However I guess this setup is some what old. Recommended last year. So maybe the new batteries are delivering much more power? My batteries are still only 35c. Not like i'm running 45c thunderpowers or the new 65c xps.

I'm going to be flying a 104'' pilatus porter that i'll end up towing gliders with. So that is why this plane is overpowered

subscribed, good info for me....rookie with 50cc size electrics. Converting a 30% MX2 (EG Aircraft), Hacker A60-18L, Mad Dog mount, CC HV-110 esc, APC 24x12, 12s, I guess the esc programming is the "cloudiest" issue for me thus far. keeping batteries cool in fuse is the second concern... For the MX2, mad dog mount is about 1/4" too long by the way. Ordered some gas mounts so I wouldn't ruin the stock mad dog stand-offs.
