Funny thing at the field today - went to maiden my CARF 330L and after we trimmed out the plane, landed and started to get it ready for a second flight, all the trim adjustments went back to the original. Turns out every time the transmitter is shut off, any change is lost. I intend to send it back to Horizon, but am looking if there are any quick fixes that could keep me from being without my transmitter for a few weeks.

You probably know about the flight modes on the 9303, but just incase you don't; You can trim the plane differently on different Flight Modes. If you flew the plane on one flight mode, then flipped the switch after you turned it back on, it could have default trim settings. This is probably not the issue, but it just came to mind. I'm sure someone here will have a better answer unless it's just a small thing as I mentioned. Hope you get it figured out soon!

Yes, if you are using flight modes you need to set your trims to "common"(COM). If they are set to "flight modes"(FM) you will have to trim for every flight mode - not recommended. Seperate trims per flight mode are really more for scale guys...
Otherwise, if this is not the problem, you can use subtrims to set the trim. But if your radio is truly resetting itself every time you turn it on I would be leary of using it at all...

Thanks guys. Yeah, even the timer resets. I'm in FM mode. I'll switch to Com. However, even the subtrims go back to the original (we were trying to adjust the throttle subtrim). Ughhh.

no it wasnt the flight modes...the trim on his tx is set to "com". anything you do to the radio such as change d/r expo or sub trim will reset to a previous setting. it acts like it has no more memory, kinda weird.

Yep. That is a virtual memory glitch. something to do with a transistor or diode that goes out. It has happened before with discussion here on FG. Hopefully you wont have to wait too long to get it back...
Are you running a lipo transmitter battery? If so, remove it. JR won't like to see that. I also recommend not using it again if you were using one.

Nope. No lipo. I'm hopeful it's not going to be more than a couple of weeks. Maybe I'll beat the winter rush when everyone sends their stuff back for warranty work.

There have been a few cases of bad batteries in the X9303's and DX-7's (I think it's the same 1500 mah pack) although pretty rare.
What kind of shape is your battery in? If it's got an issue, it may be that the memory write is being disabled by a low voltage situation when it shuts down. Long shot I know, but worth a check IMHO... |
