**HOBBICO® LIFESOURCE™ LiFe 6.6V
RX BATTERY PACKS

Serious power for your on-board systems!

Hobbico's new LiFeSource brand takes advantage of the latest LiFe (lithium iron phosphate LiFePO4) technology to create a lightweight, high energy density battery. With LiFeSource, you'll enjoy more power than NiCd and NiMH receiver batteries provide — in a smaller pack that's perfect for aircraft applications where every ounce counts.

With a nominal voltage rating of only 6.6 volts, LiFeSource batteries typically do not require regulators to power the receiver and servos, as LiPo packs do. You also avoid any worries over connector compatibility with your chosen on-board radio gear. Each LiFeSource pack comes with three discharge leads: two with universal Rx plugs and one with a Deans® female Ultra Plug®. Just plug in the proper connector and fly!

Outstanding thermal stability makes LiFeSource LiFe packs among the safest batteries you will use. They're also environmentally friendly, containing no toxic substances. Pack the power you need into your aircraft today with Hobbico LiFeSource LiFe batteries!

I like this approach
Horizon tried selling A123 cells but for whatever reasons the approach was not done very well -
A123 (the best of this type technology in my book) paved the way for these cells.
There will be the usual "dumb thumbs" users who will screwup using these cells but properly applied -there isn't a better battery option for 6 volt applications.

Horizon was an official reseller for A123 packs. You can now get them from other sources as well.

The new Hobbico pack will make its public Debut this weekend at the iHobby Expo in Chicago.

Is that a good thing or bad thing?

What are the alternative methods of sealing the cells?

A form factor more like LiPo's, I think they are usually easier to mount.....

They also show a 10c discharge rate not 30c like true A123's.

Stang,
Okay..... Two JR leads, a Deans and a balance lead. I would use one JR lead to go to my switch, I would imagine there are those that would use the Deans to go to a Power Box set-up and I can understand the balance lead for charging. What's the extra JR lead for?

Maybe for people who want redundant switches and dual power leads to their Rx??? or to run a second switch running power to a matchbox??

Used one of these (2100) to power my servos/reciever and ignition (off same battery) in my Pilot 73" Extra. One lead thru switch to rx and one lead thru switch to regulator then to ignition on DLE-30. Works great. Light and powerful.

I am using a pair of these lifes to drive a PE in a 35% Extra, have had them in for a couple of months with no problems. They allow me to do 10-12 flights and not have to recharge.
