Okay,
I have been reading about the AR 7000 and how to bind if so it has a true fail safe. I read that you plug in the bind plug, turn the rx on, remove the bind plug, set the sticks on the tx where you want servos to failsafe to, push in the bind button then turn the tx on and let it bind. This is suppose to enable the the rx to save the failsafe position. So I did this and tested it. I turn the tx off while its connect to the rx and the only failsafe I got was on the throttle channel. I tried this on my ar500 ar6200 and another ar7000 with no luck. So I called horizion and they said they have never heard of this. NOTE:All of my receivers have the fast connect feature. This is the next part of the story. I had an accident with my heli that had an AR 7000 in it. It got damaged so I sent it back to horizon. They sent me a new AR 7000. On the box it said "flight log compatible." So, I bound it just like I described above. Whala! Now it has a true failsafe. Now this one will return all channels to the positions that they were bound. I posted a video to show. I have a AR7000 in my Yak 54 that has the quick-connect feature but will not failsafe like my heli will with the new ar 7000. I called horizon and they told me the only failsafe on an ar 7000 is the throttle. They must of come out with a new firmware. Is the only difference on the ar7000 that is "flight log compatible" versus the Ar7000 with the quickconnect feature, firmware? Has anyone sent in there ar 7000 that had the quick-connect feature, and had the firmware upgrade? Has horizon posted a version of firmware they are on? |

The light on the rx should have been blinking after you turned the power back on too.

The technicians are only human. Sometimes they may not be up to date with the information. I sent my AR7000 back to Horizon last year to have the firmware updated to the "quick connect". When it came back, it was capable of either Smart or Preset failsafe.

The problem with Horizon saying that the latest AR7000 doesn’t have Preset failsafe may be caused by the AR7000 documentation. On the Spektrum and Horizon websites as well as the AR7000 user guide there is no mention of the Preset as opposed to Smart failsafe. The answer you get sometimes depends on whom you are speaking. If the technician is reading from a prepared text, he probably doesn’t know. If you get the same stock reply the next time you call, courteously but firmly insist you own another AR7000 that has this feature. Hopefully he will consult someone that is in the know. Sending you a PM.

The Quick Connect works, the Flight Log does not and I've not tried the two different Failsafe/SmartSafe on those rx's since I use the retarded throttle all others at last commanded position anyway. I've seen some folks post that their AR-7000's came back with Flight Log capability and all I can surmise is that either there was a change in the hardware before the Quick Connect came out, or there was a problem with the rx requiring the replacement of the board in the rx because all mine show is rx voltage if you plug in the Flight Log. Nor can I tell you if the firmware update for the Quick Connect will allow an older AR-7000 to use the two Failsafe/SmartSafe feature. |

I purchased both of mine this spring and they have the Quick connect and SmartSafe fail safe. The Failsafe works great.
