Where would be a good place to buy from? I've heard that Xheli sucks. I've got my heart set on the Walkera Creata 400 or 60B. (And I have had a couple of coax's.) I'm looking for a trouble/ hassle free company and so far, they are all websites that carry the Walkera brand.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Walkera has got to be one of the lousiest pile of crap heli kit brands out there. Everything they make is JUNK. I have built over a hundred helis, take my word for it.

Just have to agree with you there ,but there are some who seem to enjoy them until they know better . Get advice from your local heli club they will be more than helpful i am sure Do not want to start a war here , but In my years of experiencei have found the Align T-Rex 600 to be the best thought out trouble free heli that i have ever had , and that includes the JR Vigor . So start off with one of those would be my advice , those that have had my help setting them up and teaching them to fly have and are enjoying trouble free flying . Parts are plentiful and reasonably priced If you want electric go with the 450 or better still the 500 to start with . Last edited by GSK; 11-10-2009 at 08:11 PM. |

I would defenately go Align. They are not the absolute best that money can buy but they are way ahead of the field in performance for the dollar. I would suggest starting with a .50 size as they are much easier to fly than something smaller. If you can afford it that is. Other than that I would say go no smaller than the Trex 450. First get hovering down in all orentations. Most guys have the biggest problems with the side presentaions when stationary hovering. It's normal. Take your time and get this right. Once you get it you are well on your way... as forward flight will then be easy. Next steps mild aerobatics and then 3D. Enjoy! If you have any other questions I would be happy to help.

Oh.. sorry. Readyheli out of FL does a bang up job of keeping everything that you would need in stock and they ship very fast. I have used them for many years and have had no problems at all.

Trex 600LE combo is the way to go. You can get one with a .50 engine for around $900. Just add RX, throttle servo and go. Nothing can beat that.

first, i agree with all that has been said so far...I started with a falcon 400 from X Heli. Junk. then Copter X 450 which I beat the crap out of...then a string of Align 600SPs , and now 2 Align 700LEs. If you really want to get into helis, start with something that is bought through a reputable heli shop - and there are plenty out there - and not one of them is going to try to sell you walkera or something similar. radio is real important...despite once owning a number of higher end radios for my imac planes and sailplanes, i suckered into the ad for the falcon with it's "compter" radio - more junk. there is no such thing as a good low priced heli.
