Header Length
Throttle Curve

My 120" QQ Yak with a 170 and Greeves has a pretty smooth throttle transition. Not quite as good as regular mufflers, but pretty darn close.

Well, I got a couple things so far:
Engine = DLE-55 (306.00)
Radio = Futaba 10CAG with two 7-channel receivers (R617FS) 559.99
The plane will be in on the 19th if all goes as scheduled so I'm hoping to start the build by early Dec. We'll see.
Those Fromeco Badger switches are very nice but is there a close second with a nice LED for ignition "on"?

I've got a 1060 tuned pipe for my DA 50 in an Aeroworks 260. Deadspot in the midrange. goofed with it a bit by chopping the header shorter, it got better, but was still there. Yes, it is an on off switch. maybe if I cut it shorter? I don't know. Shoved in a Slimline pitts, nothing but fun since, but am thinking of tinkering with the 1060 on another DA50 I have. I'll try to contact KS and find out about throttle curves before I start hacking.

get yourself a SmartFly Optical Ignition Kill. it is SAFE and it has the LED for the "hot or not" status. i wouldn't fly a gasser without an ign kill. just my opinion.

good luck and have fun!!!

If you want the same performance and save a few bucks check these out. Nice engine with a machined case and great support.

RCGF 50cc. Sweet little engine with all of the performance of the DL-50. You can pick up an RCXel opti-kill switch and a canister exhaust at the same time.

Guy's, thank you. Al, I already have an engine but thanks for the link. An optical kill is on my list for sure. Matt, thanks and I will keep that stuff in mind. Are regulators a necessary component for any battery type or just li-ion and li-poly? No hurry, I just want to do this right. Thanks again!

You need regs for li-ion and li-poly, or any battery type above the voltage your servos can handle. You dont need them for nimh, nicd, or a123.

Ok, thanks for that Matt. I think I'm going to use 2 4000mah Nimh with a Smart-fly Batshare. I'm going with the Smart-fly optical kill too.
I have a chance to grab 5 JR 8711 servos for $475.00 shipped. I know they're overkill but should I go for them? Thanks!!

i dont think you want to use nimh for you reciever especially with 5 8711. use 2 2300 a123's no reg and you will be way lighter and better off. get a fromeco wolverine swich and no bat share required. or since it's going in a 50cc bird 2 1100a123's no reg and be even lighter yet and still have alot of capacity compared to the nimh.
you will be looking at around 22oz for 2 nimh batteries and only 6oz for 2 1100 a123 or 12oz for 2 2300 a123's

Yes but I'll need a special charger or even two for those A123's, right? With the Wolverine switch i won't need the Batshare either? I will still have the receiver battery backup redundancy without it? Ok, I'll take that under advisement. Thank you.

yes you will need a charger that is capable of charging a123's. but to save so much weight in the plane and you can charge in 20min would be worth it. i have a sirius peak charger for my ignition pack that is only 4.8v 1500mah nimh and it takes about twice aslong to charge that than both my a123's.

Yeah, thats gonna weigh a TON for a 50cc plane. The wolverine acts as a batshare and a switch all in one. Totally redundant and its a failsafe switch (fails in the on position.) Defiantly dont go with those nimh's, use a123's or li-ons. 8711s are defiantly overkill for a 50cc plane but would be great in your next bigger plane. Hope this helps,

OK, I think the Wolverine is the way to go and then I won't need the Batshare. I don't know much about those A123's so I need to do more homework I guess. B-
