Default My wife told me to buy a Carden !

I don't know what's wrong with her but today she told me to order the 118 inch Extra 300 kit. I spoke to Dennis he has 3 extras left I am seriously considering doing it but I have never built on this scale before. I am slightly freaked out, more so with the covering and painting part than anything else. I am descent at covering but I have never sprayed paint ever, I wouldn't even know where to begin. I definitely cant afford to have someone build it for me maybe its time to put up or shut up. What do you guys think ? - try the no-experience carden build ? sounds like an adventure.

I say do it. FG has at least a half-dozen or so master builders who give their experience away just for the asking. Can't beat that support system.

Luck!

There are plenty of us that will help you with the build. Go ahead and get it. If you arent sure at the painting stages just practice on something before you spray the actual plane and if you like what you practiced on do the samething on the plane. I think if you can get the plane done the painting will be easy.

Did you ask her who she was and what had she done with your wife?
Sounds like a win win situation to me!

When I was younger i built some kit trainers, I also scratch built a F4 corsair and a P51 mustang but they were not up to the standards the i would want a Carden. I have done a few "cover off" rebuilds of crashed 50cc ARF's recovering them in monokote, they came out very nice. I can build most anything I set my mind to, I will likely need to expand my tool shop collection. I am super picky about stuff I expect perfection so i will have to go slow. As far as my wife goes I picked here up at advance autoparts, she was wrenching on a camero in a bikini.

You can do it. All it really takes is patience and tools. Covering isn't so bad. Painting sucks, my advice on that is to get real automotive paint and have your dealer mix the colors.

Dude, buy the kit and build it. When you get ready to spray the cowl let me know. I'll spray it for you free. There see it just got easier!
