Could I use the gear on my beat up Shockflyer Extra 330s on the MX-2? It's an Axi 2208-34 with an 8 amp controller. 2-cell 830mah Lipos. I think the servos are the hitec 55. Golf dome flying is starting soon and I need a new plane.
I like that Blender biplane too. Can I use above gear on the Blender?

Joe, sure, you could use that gear on the MX-2. It's much heavier than the setups we normally run on indoor planes, but the MX-2 is bigger than the shockies so it should still fly better. It would perform much better on the lighter setup, but it will still work!
That setup would be worse though on the Blender because it is quite small and it helps a lot to have a lighter setup. RJ

Thanks guys! I'll do a "hover test" tonight when it's finished since it will be too dark to fly it outside, but tomorow is our first gym night so I'll get some video of the MX2 and the Osiris.
Hey Gary, you probably recognize the scheme on it... It's pretty much the same design that I sent you that you painted on my flyinggiants foamy, just without all the shadow and accent effects... I'm not good enough with the airbrush for all that stuff yet! Hehe oh and I figured out what was wrong with my airbrush, that crappy little compressor just doesn't push enough air. Guess I need a new one! Any reccomendations? |

Jared...I'm just using a 1 gallon air compressor from Menards. Got it in a combo deal with a air nail gun for a hundred bucks...I think it already had a regulator on it also. Pretty much good to go straight out of the box. I'm gonna see if I can get a "T" fitting for it, so I can run 2 brushes at a time...

Looks like $218.75 if I buy it all from Fancy. That's the Hacker motor. Is the Axi $17 better?

Nope, in my personal experience the recommended Hacker has better power than that Axi, though they are close. I run the Hacker A10-9L on my models. RJ

I have never seen a hacker be "broken" I am thinking they should hold up well to hard impacts. Outrunners usually do pretty well.

Thanks, I gotta get one of these on order ASAP. Golf dome season is just weeks away. I'm just gonna leave my banged up Shocky together and keep flying it. Although after flying one of these I doubt it will get much flight time.

Joe, like Jamie said, I've never seen a Hacker get broken or even get a bent shaft. 5 ounce foamies just don't have enough inertia to do that kind of damage. At EFExpo we actually dove a foamy with a Hacker from the ceiling (couple hundred feet) right into the floor... the motor wasn't hurt at all.
I wonder too... I can vouch for at least 10 from our group, and I'm sure others will bring theirs too!

active tonight great paint jobs! I shoul dget my radio gear in tonight, while watching both ncis's haha. as for the yak55 dropping in sales,, this mx2 sure looks better, but someone will always want the 'differnt non extra looking plane' more photos later.. maybe if im lucky a hover test tonight, but that will be pushing it hahah.
Danny, another good thing to using coroplast for the both is that it can some what be cleaned,, not like that matters ina paint booth tho hahah. send me photo of the set up once its done. mike
