Looks great Brandon!
I use the RadicalRC control arm on my ailerons too. It definitely helps to get the throws equal with ailerons this big... RJ

do they sell them individually or just in that control arm package thing they have? I went up and bought one from them 3 months ago or so and they only had them in the package and you couldnt buy the seperately. |

I personally dont run the special arms, and see little to no differential.

I don't think they do. You may call and ask (or stop in if you live close), and see if they can just cut you a sheet of arms. They might be able to do that. I tried running a straight arm on my original MX2, and had a little differential in the ailerons (or at least I thought so by the way it flew). Put this arm on it and it took it right away. Seth

that is interesting to know,, odd how the shape of the servo horn can effect things.. I imagine its nothing a mix can take out tho?? speaking of that, I remember early yall said the spades hlep level the plane in flight.. it would seem that at the angle of the spades that it woul dmake inverted flying trim differnt from upright.. they do look cool tho. i got my servos in, rudder on, motor mounted using the tape methode. ill get the solder out tomarrow and hook up the electronics. in theroy anyway,, it is my day off. gym flying tomarrow night but as said before i want to make sure this plane is in alive for the bigger gym next week. I cant see how you guys build these things that fast.. Am i the only one adding the nose truss,, I want to add more onthe nose but thats just me. can taping the motor on just feels odd, but looks clean.

You would think the spades would have the opposite effect when inverted, but we've never really noticed much. I only put the two pieces on the nose like the manual suggests. Plenty stiff this way without any other carbon. On my vpp MX2, I'm actually leaving these pieces off. I use the lined tape with the little thread/wire pieces in it. Never had an issue only taping my motors on. Way I've done it the past two years. Just gotta make sure you don't have any kicker or anything under the tape when you stick it on, otherwise the adhesive comes off and the tape won't stick. Other than that, I don't do anything special other than tape it on. Makes it much easier to swap to another airframe too ![]() Non VPP MX2 is finished. 5.2oz RTF VPP MX2 is framed up with the aileron servo in. 2.2oz airframe with an aileron servo And the fastest I've built a foamy...2 1/2 hrs from the box to RTF. ![]() Seth

Yeah, what Seth said... lol.
Spades don't have any negative trimming effects on the plane, even inverted, they only help... The carbon on the nose definitely helps. Try running your motor up on a foamy without any nose trussing and you'll probably see the nose torque. The trussing prevents this. The entire airframe is exceptionally stiff with the trussing done exactly as in the manual, there really are no areas that need additional stiffening. I always tape my motors on. I use fiber-reinforced tape but have also used Blenderm and it works just fine too. RJ

Wow, 15 pages in 10 days?
It seemed to be a great flyin airplane when i wanted him huck it at KIEF. Are you guys using a Pull-pull cable for the rudder or a single rod?
http://hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store...idProduct=5208 My friend uses them on his Electrifly Yak 54. He says it has alot of power --PvT Last edited by Pvtzemerak; 11-04-2009 at 09:19 AM. |

Pushrods on both elevator and rudder are the way to go for a normal setup.
Trying to finish at least one of mine up tonight, the other might have to wait cuz it looks like my new motor got sent to my old house address! RJ

Got mine finished up last night. My weight came in at 4.5oz before the battery but I forgot to weigh in WITH a battery. I hovered it in my basement for about half a battery to get a feel for it and it feels great! Very solid.
With those bad-ass ailerons, I can actually counter-torque roll! Not many planes will spin the oposite way. Too cool! Gym night is tonight, pictures and video to come! |
