Weighed the plane with the older TP 730mah pack and it came in at 6.2oz. The airframe itself came out to 5.0oz.

hey rj did you ever shown us how to set up the vpp system? is it complicated or is it self explanitory when i get the parts? what battery do you use on the vpp?
how does the mx2 vpp fly compaired to the "flat out" in the g4 simulator?

I've never posted a guide, but it's pretty easy once you look at everything. Most of the common questions have aready been answered on the tread somewhere. I use 2S 325mah Thunder Power batteries on mine.

Compared to the Flatout on G4... there is absolutely zero comparison or similarity to the real-life MX2 on VPP.

What he said.

The VPP planes on the sim aren't even close.

Have you guys had issues with the phoenix 10 esc cutting power due to batteries getting to low on voltage, even if it was on a fully charged battery? Using it with the hacker a20-34s motor, 2s 350mah thunder power batteries, and the mamo models vpp. Do I need to adjust how much angle the prop pitch servo is allowed to move to lower the props air resistance?

You will need to play around with pitches, but for performance, not the ESC.

Make sure the ESC is set for soft cutoff, not hard cutoff. Hard cutoff will make the motor shut down immediately when the voltage gets low, but soft cutoff will let it run through momentary low-voltage spikes. I think mine is also set for insensitive current limiting, but I don't remember for sure.

Haha! Yes, VPP on the sim isn't even VPP really. Also, the plan on RF doesn't fly a thing like it should.

I just received two MX2 kits last week and will start building one soon. Still need to order servos though. I'm really looking forward to it.
very carefully. i have only broke that piece of carbon out once in the 30 flights. i usually pull the battery up from the side closest to the fuse first and then make the part out by the carbon the last thing to move. I am using some high strength velcro from home depot that has some crazy hold strength too.

I'm about to cut an opening in the lower section of the nose of the vertical fuselage for the Lipo, just in front of the aileron servo, and I'm thinking of making the opening a slightly snug fit in order to hold it in place without any velcro. Anyone tried this?

Not exactly sure how I would use velcro on the Lipo, and then slide it into place centered on the vertical section.

If you mount the Lipo on the side of the vertical fuselage, won't the right to left balance be off somewhat?

Thanks,
Don C

Many people do just cut a tight slot and let the battery stay in by friction. This works well for many people, but for the way I fly, I don't always trust it. I cut the slot oversized enough for a little play and attach the battery in the middle with velcro. With the kind of velcro I use, just pulling the battery flat along the velco will release it pretty easily. It doesn't take much velcro to hold.

Thats the way I do all of my batteries in my airplanes. Just cut the slot small so its a tight fit for the battery. It eventually wears out over time, but by then I'm generally ready to go onto another airplane.

As far as mounting on the side of the vertical fuse, it depends on how it flies, and where your other equipment is. Generally, you can trim the airplane for upright, then fly it inverted and your aileron trim is off when inverted. This tells us your lateral CG is off.

Also, in using velcro while putting the battery through a slot in the vertical fuse, you would need to cut the slot large enough to allow you to pull it off of the velcro, then slide it out.

if the g4 is no good, how do you guys learn to use the vpp with out smashing up a million planes?
is the mx2 easyer to hover backwards than the flatout in g4?

Start up high and go from there.

I went through 2 airplanes before my ETOC airplane last year.

I wouldn't say its necessarily easier, just totally different. You just have to practice with the real thing and not the sim.
