I, myself, am installing my RCGF into a 85" Knox Hobbies Yak 54... hope to have it airborne by the end of January..... Can't wait! --- only have yet to buy my servos for the new Yak! I think this is gonna be an awesome combo! So far on the 14.75 lb , 82" Spad~540 creation that I've been breaking it in on was just insane! Time to test out a different engine on it now.... My spads are awesome test beds... ![]() I can definately say that the RCGF 50b and 62b are Nelly & Pakratt Approved !!! We will be buying more of these for the secondary planes for the 2010 season! We both like to have a plastic spad and a woody each for our flying days and airshows.... |

I got an off the wall question....
My daughter Nelly has a new airplane for 2010... Last year she was flying a 27% Great Planes Edge 540 78" with the RCGF 50b... Awesome combo! Weight was approx 15.5lbs....Using a 22x8 prop.... Hovering/ rolling/ harriering abilities were awesome! Unfortunately this plane was lost from a dumb thumb... been there, done that..... The new plane is an Air Wild 27% Edge 540T 81" ARC that we are starting to throw together.... what would you think this plane will act like with the RCGF 50b compared to the Great Planes 27% Edge? Any speculations? I've never seen an Air Wild plane fly..... you think it would be better, worse? |

The all up weight is going to be the deciding factor but just think of it as putting in a DA or DL 50. The RCGF 50B that I have turns the same numbers as my DL and are slightly above a DA so that's the sort of power you can look forward to. I would put this engine at over 7000 rpm, static, with a Vess 23A after break in. That should be more then enough to huck any 27% plane.

Did you ever have one of those days when you were so lucky you couldn't believe it?? Well I just had one. I went down to the garage to pull the DL-50 from My AV Extra and install the new RCGF 62 cc. Now I'm thinking I have a days work ahead of me with mods and re-drilling and such but I get down there and pull the DL-50 only to find that the RCGF 62 cc matches up perfectly with everything, and I do mean everything. I even used the same stand-offs! Turns out the stand-offs were the same length as the ones I used for the DL-50. Only thing I had to do was the grind a flat on the bottom two as their footprint was too big to clear the RCGF case. Before putting the 62 in I checked the RCGF 50 against the stand-offs and it was an exact match too! You have to love this!!

First step was to check and mark the CG as the plane was.

Next step was to remove the prop and cowl so I could remove the existing engine, and with it some of the lead I had to use to balance this plane with the 50 in it.

With that done all it took was a quick blast on the bottom two stand-offs with a grinder and simply bolt the new engine to the existing stand-offs.

Now all I have to do is a few thrust tests, some fine tuning, and I can re-install the cowl and re-balance the plane to where it was with the 50 in it. Life is good!!!

Based on it's performance and fine looks I'd say a lot of people are going to be enjoying it at $340.00 and free shipping! LOL

Just installed the Aero 28cc, got it from Henry over at www.zrcgf.com, replacing the OS 1.60 on my GP Giant Stik. First tank of gas, first tach reading, 8790 on an 18x6 prop.
$239/shippedThis motor is a beauty..
