Default East Coast CT Fliers "Ask the Tank"!

Ask John "Tank" Banks if he went flying today or boating with his plane~!
Tanks bolts came out of his prop and the spinner and prop came off and the plane came down right into the pond! No bad damage but hurt a few fish. Too bad we didn't have a camera! He was wading in with his shoes off to get his plane!

Really we felt for you dude cause you were flying so great Tank, until you decided to go boating! Who put that prop on? Hee hee hee......
That was the same guys that did my rudder?

Wise ass eh? Yeah, definetly one good thing about hovering over the water when the prop lets go, not much damage at all. Didnt even knock the gear out when it fell from 10 feet. Thankfully the water was only about six inches deep. Nothing on the inside of the airplane got wet! I wish Elie had been there, I could have fabbed up an oar, and used one of his Edge's as a row-boat to go get it. Nothing like having a dual purpose airplane!

Unfortunately, no one had a camera at the field so I can get a pic before I took it out of the pond. But here are some aftermath shots I took when I got back.

You can see from the pics that the water-slap blasted the covering, stringers, and sheeting under the cans, and thats all that broke. Absolutely no water got into the airplane, as shown by the completetly dry bulkheads. Its a shame, I was carving some really sweet left turns before that happened!!! One thing is for certain... JEEUM builds em' STRONG!

Yeah boy he sure does! That wasn't much damage from the hit you took! I am sure you are going to check the whole system out anyway since you did take a good jolt!

Me? Well I could have flown today. I found one of my ignitions wire to the battery unplugged and hanging inside the cowl! I didn't even look till I was loading it up in the trailer! I had a Ernest keeper and one side came out. RC said I was supposed to tape it up also. I didn't know that I was supposed to do that. These were new to me. I usually used those yellow keepers. I guess it is an option to tape them. I sure will take RC's advice and tape them from now on...Cause look what happen. I should have looked earlier but with the Bar-B-Q and going to the store and back and it was HOT as HE%^ I was sweating so bad ....I said I would just wait and do it on our building night tomorrow! So I am sure I will see you working on this one tomorrow for sure!

That was some nice flying you did today Tank...A slow roll a few feet from the ground...That was impressive! Just too bad about the bolts coming out!

Nope. That was my concern though as the reciever sits on the bottom of the fuse/on the stringers. I was really happy to see that nothing got wet. Gotta get that motor off and sent back to DA for a new front shaft and hub. Hopefully get it back before the LV IMAC at the end of June. I had that thing dialed in to a "T" for sequences while I have doing all 3D stuff with the Yak and not really dialing it in for precision. Oh well, I have a whole month to get er' dialed in!

How can you go boating with my Carden Edge, you might sink and drown, I thought you said it was heavy, (36.5 lbs), better go with the Yak, much lighter (probably 40 lbs) just reinforce all the cracks shrink the covering and make sure you have a spare canopy just in case.
Oh did I miss a good one
Kidding aside, I only use the composite props for two reasons, first the looks and second is what happened to the Tank, been there few times and damaged some nice planes so I will pay the extra money for the props and might even sacrifice some performance for the peace of mind I get. I have never had a composite prop come loose.
